Ugh! I hate working here!

There is an urgent project involving an Air Force facility in Salt Lake City. Project needs to be done by March 12 and includes a site visit (4-5 hr flight each way). They are looking for someone to do it.

So my boss forwards me the email asking if I can do it.

Of course, I had to reply that I can do any work here in the office but I can't do any overnight travel. I just can't.

If grandmother wasn't sick, then maybe I could go and Rebekah would just stay with my mom overnight. But mom's taking care of grandmother full time and can't keep Rebekah overnight because she's staying at grandmother's at night. And Darren can't go in to work that late (needs to be working by 6am) and Rebekah is starting daycare this week and Darren's schedule doesn't fit with them.

It's MY job to be here and do things for Rebekah. And that is really hurting me at work.

It should NOT be like this. I shouldn't be "punished" for needing to be home every morning and evening to take care of my family. :bawl:

Does your boss know your situation with your grandmother?
No. But I don't ever get to talk to him. He lives in Minnesota. He was here for 4 days last week and I only saw him in passing in the hall once and he didn't try to talk to me.

I'm sorry, Brooke! I had a long post, but Lily just hit the back button. I'll have to come back and type it after she goes to bed.

Oh Brooke, that sucks. :hug99: Do you really think you will be punished for not going? Can't they send someone else?

Oh, Brooke, that's terrible. :bighug: Did you ever get a chance to talk to your boss? Maybe you won't be penalized if he knows what's going on with your grandmother. (Not that you should be penalized anyway - that's ridiculous, but I know how the corporate B.S. can go sometimes.) Try e-mailing him if there's no other way to get hold of him, or just grab him next time you see him in the hall and ask for a few minutes of his time. Good luck, honey. :bighug:

It won't matter if I talk to him. They (this company's higher-ups) don't care about your personal life. They don't care if you have a baby or your husband works or your grandmother is sick. In their eyes, none of that should affect my ability to do my job.
