Our daycare is moving to a new facility and we now have these key fobs to enter the building. Old practice was a door buzzer that we rang and somone had to see who was there before they clicked "open".
I've read from somone else http://www.ultimatebaby.com/images/smilies/awink.gif that their daycare has an open door and someone is sitting there so they can see who is coming in.
So I'm curious, if your children go to daycare, what kind of security is in place?

Our daycare has an open door. There is always at least one person sitting up front, usually two, and they stop anyone they don't recognize. If someone other than us is going to pick up the kids (which we've never actually done) we have to fill out a form authorizing it, and then the person will have to show ID when they pick them up. They also keep pictures of all the parents and anyone else who is approved to pick up your children in the rooms, so if the regular teachers aren't there the subs can check to make sure they're approved to take the child.

Ours has the buzzer-type door opener. It's not just a button, someone in the front office has to enter a code into a keypad to open the door. I don't know how often they change the code but only certain employees know it.
Once they recognize the parents, they will just buzz them in. But, since I will be doing most of the picking up and dropping off, Darren will probably have to show ID to pick Rebekah up.
Also, if someone other than me or Darren is going to pick Rebekah up, I have to call and give permission (they call me back to verify). And that person has to show ID. We have to list several people who are authorized to pick her up in an emergency and those people have to show ID, too.

Our daycare has a locked front door. Parents have access cards to get in. All other people must buzz and wait for a staff person to open the door.

Ours has an open door and you can go in pretty much wherever, but there is also someone usually at the front desk, or in the front classroom. You must show ID if they are nto familiar with you. Of course, it is in a hospital too, so I think that is why there isn't a buzzer or anything like that.

We have a keypad outside the main door. You have to enter a code to gain access and there is usually someone sitting right at the front desk too. The code gets changed about every 6 months.

When Victoria was in daycare it was in someone's home in a very quiet neighborhood. She had an open door but someone was always there to see who was coming in. I had to fill out a list of people authorized to pick her up in case I couldn't and when those people showed up they had to show their ID before they would release Victoria to them.

the place my daughter now attends is way out in the country and they have two buildings and she goes in the building with the infants, 1's and 2's and there are no locks, no security. I just go in, sign her in and drop her off and that's it. I feel confident about it :)
She attended two other daycares in the past that were in the city next to us and one of them had the locked doors and you had to have a passcode to enter and the other daycare had a doorbell that rang everytime someone came in the building. I prefer it the way it is at her current daycare. That way I can pop in unannounced and they have no way of knowing I'm about to walk in the door.

We are on an Air Force Base, and Aiden goes to the base daycare. They have an open door with two people on the counter and they question anyone they don't know. Every room has a camera so they know who and what is going on. I sign Aiden in at the counter and then in his room every day. The Security Police are right around the corner and respond pronto if something happens...

Reading all of your responses, not much. Jack goes to an in-home daycare and the downstairs door is open in the mornings when we drop the kids off and Patti (the daycare teacher) opens the door upstairs for us. Pick up time is the same thing. The door upstairs is locked all day long. But we live in a very safe neighborhood so I don't worry about it at all. the first time my parents picked Jack up at school, they had to show their ID's and they are the only ones authorized to pick Jack up, besides DH and myself.
