Moriah has baby acne on her forehead and cheeks.
Any clue what I can use to make it get better?
I have no idea if the heat/sweat is causing it or ???

I read somewhere that EBM helps making it better. Does anyone know about that?

How do I know if it is baby acne or an eczema?

Nadine, I'm sorry that Moriah is dealing with this. I don't think it's caused by heat / humidity and Anya had it in cold February. I think you just need to let it run its course.

Are you washing her face with just water? If you're using a soap I'd stop that. Maybe wash her face with water a few more times a day.

I'd think it wouldn't hurt to try EBM on the baby acne.

Your doctor could diagnose if it's eczema, but I'd say that unless you see dry, red, bumpy patches on her elbows / knees that it's probably just the baby acne. As I remember it was all over Anya's cheeks and sides of her face, and hairline.

My friends son Keegan had it really bad. He really started to show it around 2.5 weeks and it ran it's course and it was gone by about 5 weeks. Their Doctor just told them to only wash with water, not to use much lotion on his face, and let it run it's course. You would never know now that he had it.

Interesting. What is the main ingredients in your nappy rash cream? Here we have a few different brands, and I think each has its own main ingredient (ie one is zinc oxide).

Rayna had a spectacular case of it when she was a newborn. I didn't do anything for it, just let it run its course. I was told not to mess w/ it b/c it would clear up on its own w/ out scarring, etc. Someone told me it was as a result of mommy's hormones gradually leaving their bodies after birth? Don't know if it is true or not. I actually think we are about to experience the same thing w/ Harper.

Jeremy had a horrible case of baby acne. I took him to the ped for it because he had cradle cap, too, and the poor guy looked horrible. They basically told me it was due to hormones, and that it doesn't hurt the baby. It hurts the parents more because they want to take pictures of the baby. The ped said to just make sure his face was clean, but not to scrub or get too much oil from your hands on his face. It cleared up at about 6 weeks of age.

I've heard the same thing. Just clean with plain water and let it run its course is the recommendation I was given.

 That is true in a way... :shuffle:

Thanks or the input.

No - I only wash her face with water. No soap or lotion.
We are seeing the nurse (child development) tomorrow and I will ask her if it is acne or an eczema.
I will try the nappy lotion.

Marcy the one that worked for me was Amolin. The ingredients are: Calamine (37.5mg) almond oil (28.5mg) salicylic acid (4.7mg) zinc oxide (16mg)

it was truly chronic, Marcy. And I spread this stuff on his face every few hours and within two days it was completely cleared up and NEVER came back.

Here is a before:

As you can see in the before it was all between and around his eyebrows, they were also flaking like cradle cap and it completely smoothed out! I use Amolin for everything now!
