What topic (personal or political) pushes your buttons the most?

Parenting. Not sure how to explain this but it is pretty much when someone tells me how to parent my children. I don't mind suggestions but there is a fine line.

When someone tells me that I am going to hell for not believing in something that they believe in.

When people offer unsolicitated advice on how I can save my marriage.

When rape cases are discussed and the attorneys allude to the fact that a woman drinking is "asking for trouble" or put herself in that situation. Nobody asks to get raped.

The politicizing of health care issues. Why should the medical care of patients be decided by lawyers and business people??? How can someone with no scientific background make decisions about research issues??? I started medical school more than 10 years ago and I still have only a limited understanding of some of these issues so how is it possible that politicians understand it better than I do???

It's a tie between religious proselytizing/judgment and the trampling of the Constitution that is going on right now.

Intolerance regarding race and sexual orientation. I overheard a guy at work going on about how gay people should not be allowed to have children. I managed to stay quietly in my office but I nearly busted a blood vessel listening to his ignorance!

I haven't gotten through the whole list of everyone's answer yet (I just got to Jen's) but this is almost exactly what I was going to say.

As for race, it's unbelievable the things people will still say and do.

I have a few.....

- intolerance of race/other religions (besides Christianity)/sexual orientation

- women who have kids because they're bored/don't care/ignorant/etc. and then neglect/abuse/kill those kids because they can't be bothered to think of anyone but themselves. :(

- people who refuse to do anything for themselves (work/etc.) because they're lazy....and then expect everyone else to pick up the tab/give them stuff/give them breaks because all they do is sit on their asses.

- people who physically abuse animals. :(
