I need some advice....

We're on our first IUI cycle this month. I took clomid 100 mg CD 3-7
and a Repronex injection on CD 9.

We went in for the ultrasound this morning, and much to our surprise, I had around 12 follies that are size 18mm or larger. Usually when a woman takes the same dosage of clomid she'll get 2-3 follies. The dr. said that its too many, as there would be a large risk of multiples, so we won't be doing the trigger or IUI this cycle. He told us that we should abstain this cycle, and next cycle we'll lower my dosage of clomid. Now the question is, should we obstain, or give it a try anyways? He said that DH's morphology is poor (but didn't give the percentage).

So what would you do?

If I had a dollar everytime they told me I had a high risk of multiples I would be rich! I would go ahead and do the deed.

I'd do it too. Why abstain? :dunno:

If DH's morphology is that poor then maybe only one sperm might hit one of those 18 follies not all of which will produce eggs at the time DH's sluggish sperm get there.

Also, if you get twins then maybe you won't need to go this route again; maybe you will be happy with what you get and won't want any more children. Or if you get the "jackpot" and get six or more just go on the news and get all sorts of free stuff.

Off topic I'm surprised he started you at 100mg of Clomid. Don't you usually start with 50?

no kidding!

But just in case - just think through with DH what/how you would handle higher order multiples if they did occur.
