At a restaurant, have you ever sent your meal back because you didn't like it? (If so, what was it and what did they say/do?)

Yup, because they put beans in my burrito. Eww, I hate black beans in burritos.
They were great to provide me with another (bean free) burrito. And it was much better :)
I think the only other things that I sent back was a seafood pasta at Olive Garden (?) which had the "Use by x date" sticker in it - it's the sticker that was on the seafood in the storage fridge - it got into my food. However, at least that proves it was within date. And something that I ordered at a Marriott in Manhattan had something (piece of plastic maybe?) in it, so that was sent back. Every time the staff and mgr have been very accomidating.

Yes.
If I just kind of don't like the meal, or if it's not what I expected, then I just deal. But if the food is just much too cold (when it's supposed to be hot), or if it really tastes bad or off, I will say something. I can't really remember too many specifics on what I've sent back because I've only done it once recently.
The one recently was when we went to one of our favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge. We got our favorite soup there (which we've eaten many times over the past 10+ years), and it didn't taste right at all. Brad and I both knew it wasn't right. I just politely told the server that it didn't taste how it was supposed to.

I've only sent something back once - it was a steak that was just a bit too rare, so I asked if they could cook it a little more for me. Otherwise, I've never felt the need to send something back.
Or I'm afraid they'll spit in it.

Just once, prime rib that was still red. The waiter gave me a lecture about how prime rib is supposed to be pink. I told him that I was aware of that, but it shouldn't be red. It came back just right, but he didn't get a good tip, that's for sure. (And I don't want to think that I may have eaten his spittle. :dead: )

Yes, at a local Italian restaurant. I ordered chicken picatta, which is supposed to be in a light lemony flavored sauce. This was in a heavy thick orange sauce, sprinkled with paprika. It wasn't bad to eat, but it certainly wasn't what it was supposed to be, so I sent it back and requested some other chicken dish that was the same price.

Yes, but not too often for me - I have sent back iced tea more times than I can count  Paul sends his stuff back all the time because he's picky (he'll send stuff back for having parsley sprinkled on top  ) so I figure he's eaten more than just his meal a few times, if you know what I mean

I have sent my steaks back a couple of times...once it was too raw (like, mooing raw) and another time very well done, and I just want some pink in there :) I'm always very nice to whoever I'm talking about it, though, because, like Nichole, I'm afraid my food might come back...well....tainted hehe Every time it all was very nice and handled great.

Yes, we have to do this at Mexican restaurants from time to time. DH is allergic to all legumes and so we will ask for no beans and sometimes they forget.

Yeah Nicole, this is why I usually refrain from sending things back...I don't like loogies with my meal!!
Don't get me wrong, if their was a finger in the food or something...I would send it back:puke:

I can only think of 3 times that I've done it. Once was when I ordered french fries and they came loaded with parmesan cheese (BARF! I hate parm! :puke: ) and another was when my dish came back w/ giant curled shavings of parmesan in it and on it. Both times, parmesan was nowhere mentioned on the menu. The 2nd time, my husband was furious w/ me and gave me a huge lecture how I shouldnt be so picky and I should just eat it. It was my b-day and he made me cry and I will never forget what and ass he was
The 3rd time was when I got a roasted veggie sandwich and it came w/ mayo :puke: and the menu hadn't mentioned mayo.
I have no qualms about sending back my wine if it tastes funny. I've done it plenty times.

Once or twice. I remember sending back a burger I'd ordered medium well and it was practically burnt! Generally I try not to send stuff back for the same reason Nichole posted.

Yes, I have. I don't know how many times, but I'll send something back if it's too cold, not the way I ordered (like no tomatoes, pickles, etc), has hair in it :errr: or of it's totally nasty tasting. :dead:

I'm sure that I have at some stage, but I can't really remember. It would have been many years ago though, before my friends who were waiters told me what they did to the meals of the people that sent them back :errr: Now it would have to be really, really bad to send it back.

Yes,
I had ordered a baked chicken breast that was stuffed with sundried tomatos and swiss cheese and when I cut into it the entire middle was raw :puke: the annoying part was that I ended up getting sick and spent the next 3 days throwing up out of every opening I had :blue:
I generally don't send things back unless it is the complete opposite of what I ordered or it isn't hot enough.
Oh and when we were in Italy we had serious issues one night where we just kept getting the wrong thing served to us and in the one meal we sent back 7 of the 10 dishes ordered  total PITA!
