All schools seem to have different cut off ages anymore which makes it so hard when it comes to sending kids to school at the age you want.
So what are your age ranges for school
Just Kindergarten
Kindergarten
1st Grade
I guess I should add how often they go when they are in these grades?

Just Kindergarten: (2, 3, or 5 days a week for 2.5 hours) We don't have this but our children have to be 3 by August 1 and fully potty trained to go to Preschool
Kindergarten: (5 days a week 8:30-3:15) Our cut off right now is that children must be 5 by August 1 however it is going to change from what I have heard for the state of Ohio that they have to be 5 by June 1.
1st Grade: (5 days a week 8:30-3:15)(I threw in) But our's follows the same guide line along. They must be 6 by August 1

Pre-K: 4 by September 1
Kindergarten: 5 by September 1
First Grade: 6 by September 30
Next year the first grade age will be 6 by September 1. They started changing cut-offs about five years ago. The date used to be December 31. They moved up the date by a month every year since then. My goddaughter lucked out in that department. She has a mid-October birthday and the year she entered kindergarten they changed the cut-off date to November 30.
Pre-K is not mandatory, but I think Kindergarten is. I think most Kindergarten is full day every day. I guess I have time to figure that one out, don't I?

Our cutoff is Oct. 1. They need to be 4 by Oct. 1 for pre-k, 5 for kindergarten, and 6 for first grade.

Junior K - Same as Jayne, we have preschools all around here...so mine is the same as hers..
Kindergarten - I live in a different school district though and our cutoff is 5 by Sept. 1. All day, every day. 9-3:!5.
1st Grade - 6 by Sept 1st I would imagine..since K is Sept 1st unless they change it next year. that is 5 days a week 9-3:15

We don't seem to call it pre-K here. :dunno:
We have preschool - 3 year old and 4 year old. And then K and so on. Our preschool uses teh cut off date of Sept 1 (3 by sept 1 for 3-yr-old, etc) because that's what the K cutoff will be by the time Rebekah gets in there.

Preschool- 3 and potty trained.
Kindergarden 5 by September 1st. I think they've transitioned over to full day at all of the programs, but I'm not sure...

Preschool - 3 and potty trained; usually a couple half days a week.
Not sure about Pre-K, since I haven't looked into it yet. :blush1:
Kindergarten - 5 by December 1. Jackson's birthday is October 30, so he'd be very young for his class; he'd be 4 when starting! We're thinking that we'll hold him back so he'll be almost 6 when school starts. K is half days here.

Us either. We're one of the few districts left in the state to offer free kindergarten to 4 year olds. Its not pre-k here. Its genuine half-day kindergarten like I went to. They simply have 2 years of it, the 2nd year being a full day, to help ease them into 1st grade.

Ours is officially called early childhood education, not pre-k.

Junior Kindergarten:
Children must be 4 years old by December 31, 2006
Senior Kindergarten:
Children must be 5 years old by December 31, 2006
It doesn't say anything about grade 1. In the city both JK and SK are 5 half days/wk. In the county it is 3 full days one week and 2 full days the following week and then it alternates weekly.

For kindergarten - turn 5 before August 1st
1st grade - turn 6 before August 1st
We have a public pre-K, but it's very limited and is on a lottery basis. I think you have to be 4 before August 1st, but I'm not sure. We use a private preschool/pre-K.

Preschool - 2yrs 9mos and PT'd (or trying) - then you go to Nursery and then PreK
Kindergarten - 5 years by Sept 30th...well, actually we have no public K and I actually have no idea what the cutoff is at our private school
1st Grade - 6 years old by Sept 30th

Preschool is not mandatory here, but the cutoff dates are, for the 3 year old class September 1st. The same date for the 4 year old class.
Kindergarten is you must be 5 by September 1st. Then after Kindergarten, you go on to 1st grade...you can't just enter 1st grade w/o going through Kindergarten.

Preschool: ?? Depends on the school... Caroline's I think maybe they have to be 3 by sometime in Oct. to attend the 3 year old program, but they group them by birthdays, so everyone is close.
K: Public school is Dec. 1, and our local schools are all full day. I hope they keep the 12/1 date, b/c Tatum is Sept. 20, ant that would suck if she had to wait a full year. Catholic school is Sept. 1 for K and 1st grade.

Age for Kindergarten is 5 by Dec 31st. This past year (2005-2006) We had children born between September and December in a seperate class, I think jr. K. Those children, can move to grade 1 if they are ready, or move to K.

Preschool - 3 and potty trained anywhere from 1 to 5 days a week for 2 1/2 hours a day
Kindergarten - to start in February must be turning 5 by June 30th and that is full time 5 days a week 9am to 3pm
Then you just continue on with primary school grades 1 - 6 from there.

Pre-school is 3 and 4 I think it is 2 or 3 days a week depending on what you select.
Kindergarten: 5 by August 31st. Brenna misses it by 1 days so she will be 6 when she starts K.

I'm sure you could get her in if she's ready and you want her to go. Mason missed it by 3 days but it was Junior Kindergarten and I figure if they say so he can skip SK. They say boys need the extra time but not girls. Who knows.

Our preschool is private, and they have to be 3 and potty-trained. We don't have a preschool/junior kindergarten...but wish we did.
Kindergarten- have to be 5 by August 1st. We opted to hold Noah out until next year...he wasn't ready (June 29th bday) and will be 6 when he starts.
1st grade is 6 by Aug. 1st.

I'm sure I could since I work in the school district, but I think she will be better off waiting the year. Working with middle school kids I can see better how it will be to her advantage later on.
