All of us are innies. I have no idea why some are outties. :dunno:

I used to have an outie, but after three kids, it's kind of buried in there with mountains of jiggly tummy all around it.

Innie and it never popped out with either of my pregnancies :(
I was kind of looking forward to it too... I know, silly :shuffle:

I'm the weirdo who chose other because at this point in time I could. Right now it is kind of between and innie and an outie. Give it a couple of more days and it will be an outie. Normally, when I'm not 8 months pregnant, it is an innie.

Neither did mine, Mary.
All of us are innies here. :)

I'm an innie. Liam is an innie but Norah appears to be an outie.
Does it have something to do with the way the umbilical cord is tied? That's what my mom says, but she could be full of it. :dunno:

I don't think so, Barb. I mean cords aren't even tied anymore, they are clamped.

Good point. :duh:

All of us have innies. I heard outies are dependent on the muscles underneath. :dunno:

We're all innies, except for Norah, who has an outie that is cute as all heck :)

We're all innies (or innie-iss) except for Maggie. She's an outie.
Stagg used to wonder what he did differently to make one and innie and one an outie until I explained that his clamping/cutting abilities had nothing to do with it.

I have an innie and I too wanted it to pop out with my pregnancies. It never did. :blue:
Funny story...when I was in elementary school we were all eating lunch one day and some kids started talking about innies and outties. All I heard was everyone saying they had an outtie and I thought they were talking about cars. You know, Audi's. I piped in that my mom didn't have an outtie but she did have a wagon. I felt like such an idiot!

Cameron and Alasdair are both outies.

Scott and I are innies -- all the kids are outies (cute ones!). My belly button popped out with Brendan but not with the twins, which seemed weird to me.
My sister's kids are both innies and she's jealous of my kids' outie status. I'm not sure why.
Does anyone have a preference? If so, what and why?

We're all innies here. I'm another whose never popped out with pregnancy. I was somewhat looking forward to it, but I was kinda glad it never did. :dunno:

Both DH and I have innies (although mine is steadily not as deep as it was and may turn into an outie at some point, I hope not though!). My mom was another one who thought that it had to do withthe way the cord was cut and treated at birth. She believed that taping a quarter to our belllies after the stump fell off kept our buttons in, I'll have to show her that USI article!

I voted other. I used to have an outie but after 3 pregnancies it's become a semi-innie. It still looks like an outie, just pushed in

We're all innies here :) well Cass had a herniated bellybutton when she was a baby( from all the screaming she did :tearhair: ) she had an operation to fix it when she was 2.

aahh okay so it's the abdominal wall closing, and now that makes so much sense to me, as a baby when I would give Aiden belly massages I could feel a line between the abdominal wall and never knew what it was, now I know it's because it didn't close all the way which in effect caused his outie! how fascinating!
As for pregnancy I was shocked to see my belly button go an outie, I have the DEEPEST innie on the planet, and Tony jokes that the only time I get to clean it properly is when I am pregnant!

Ok, great. :scan:  Freaks of a feather, eh?
Deb, mine used to be super deep before pregnancy too, but now it's more of a shallow Polly Pocket swimming pool. Mine did pop out a bit with both pregnancies.
