Any other Donna Summer fans? :lol: My sisters and I loved that song when we were kids, having no idea it was about hookers. :lol:

It's Friday, and kind of a late start for the posting party, but I figured what the hey. :lol:

Any big plans this weekend? Is it still hot where you are? :sunny:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have semi-big plans. We've got ILs coming into town tomorrow afternoon and I'm embarrassed to say that I can't remember how long they're staying. :lol: I'm slowly working on getting this house in shape for their arrival. Post-vacation laundry and cleaning. Ugh. :dead:
It is much, much cooler here this week. Thank goodness! Yesterday was downright cool at 65 degrees. Today it's 80ish. Nice. I can live with that. ;)
Well, on Sunday we have to be out of our house because our closing is on Monday so final packing and moving is all that is on our agenda. It is still hot here, in the upper 80s, low 90s, but at least I don't think it is supposed to be like last weekend and be in the upper 90s. We had to have our moving sale last weekend and that was murder being outside in 100 degree weather all day!!
Wish us luck, it sure is different packing and moving with kids!!
We have absolutely NOTHING going on this weekend. We have been running for the past 3 weeks so it will be nice to have some down time. We will do a little cleaning and hopefully, I will get Dylie's room taped off and painted this weekend. My poor daughter has been so patient...I owe her some mommy time.
The weather is much better here. Actually it has been for several days now. Thunderstorms in the afternoon and highs in the 80s.
I'm leaving work now too!
BTW: I love Donna Summer. So let's dance, the last dance, it's your last chance for romance tonight........
It's 90 here right now with low humidity :aok: mid-90s this weekend and going back up to 100 by late next week :dead: :dead: :dead:
No plans that I'm aware of this weekend which is fine by me!
Happy Friday, Ladies!
No big plans this weekend. I am working tomorrow to makeup sometime Ive missed this week due to doctor's appointments. Nothing planned yet for Sunday.
AmyP
August 4th, 2006, 06:06 PM
It was in the upper 90's today, but it was 100 or close to it earlier this week so it's a bit of a break. It's supposed to be mid-upper 80's this weekend.
Tomorrow we have no plans, although I will be visiting my brother in the hospital if he isn't going home tomorrow. :(
Sunday is my niece's baptism, which I'm looking forward to. Although I'm not looking forward to trying to keep Sarah still and relatively quiet through the ceremony. It's during her naptime, so it's not going to be pretty! But I am looking forward to seeing some members of my extended family.
Amy, I hope everything is ok with your brother :crossfing:
No plans for this long weekend here, I'm even working on the freaking holiday Monday :mad: atleast I'm off tonight, going to enjoy it with a glass of wine and listening to my audio book..hopefully it doesn't knock me out before the ending :lol:
Mornin!
Well it's 8:30am Saturday here, and I seriously need to do so much, Jacob has been sick all week, and I have been busy dealing with the mortgage broker and solicitors and real estates due to our refinancing for our place and my parents selling there place and buying a new one. Plus I now have what Jacob has so the cough is yuck, and the head is even yuckier :rolleyes:
So my aim today is to get the kids to my parents so I can go and do a food shop (cupboards are beyond bare) and also go put money on the toys for Christmas we put on layby from the huge Target toysale. Then I gotta find a 1yr old and a 3yr old birthday present for a joint party happening next weekend. NOT in the mood but it's gotta get done.
Last night I didn't do anything as tony was working I had to tape the football cause his team was playing, he got home at 1:30am with his work mates to watch it and stupid me had the VCR set to the wrong channel and all it taped was blank screen. :blush: I am normally pretty good with checking that, but my brain was in full swing cold/flu mode and I wasn't thinking. They were NOT impressed.
Hope it's not too hot for all of you!
We're having a kid-free weekend! :woo: Caroline is on her way to my parents' house as we speak. They will get pizza for dinner tonight, go to the farmer's market and the pool on Saturday, and I'll meet them on Sunday to bring her home. Tonight we're going to go out to dinner, tomorrow we're going to sleep late and see a movie that doesn't involve cartoon characters. :mickey:
And speaking of which, hubby is ready to go, so I'll be back later!
She works hard for the money...
(was that about hookers too?! I'm so naive!!)
This long weekend we've got some plans. We've got friends from NYC arriving for dinner at our house in, oh, about 20 minutes. Saturday I'm picking up the bridesmaids dresses and taking them to my sister were she's getting her 1st fitting on her bridal dress then in the evening dh & I are going to a Moroccan restaurant with 7 other friends to eat & watch belly dancers. Then Sunday and Monday no plans. :biggrin:
Weather has cooled a bit but I've still got the air conditioning on.
I'm showing my ignorance here... :blush1: What holiday do you Canadians have this weekend?
Aimee, I don't know about that song. I always pictured her as a waitress in that song for some reason. :lol:
August 4th, 2006, 06:50 PM
:shuffle: umm ... i'll do you one better and say "i don't know" on what holiday it is -- it's a day off from working and that's all I need to know :ura1: (seriously, I don't know. :lol: )
Lisa!? What holiday is it?
I just read the lyrics .. I agree with you, I think it is waitressing she's singing about.
Oh Nicole! You've started something here :lol:
remember on the radio whoa oh oh
Look at this site http://www.geocities.com/h_arevalo/index3.html - doesn't Oprah's friend Gail look like Donna Summer on some of those album covers?!
Wait, you have a Target in Australia?! wtg on the Christmas shopping :up:
Yep we got Target in Australia, and we have for as long as I can remember :nod:
Every July they have a MASSIVE toy sale, the catalogue is like 64 pages long, and we always do our christmas shopping in July and get everything half price, they extend layby so you can hold it there till Christmas eve, saves on storage and hiding in the house!! :heee:
Howdy do all. I'll be a bit out of commission this weekend... going to my mom's house, a la dial up internet. :errr: I'll be on a bit, but not like normal. :lol:
Is it sad of me to admit that the album cover from Donna Summer's Bad Girls record was the inspiration for my 7th grade Halloween costume? Yep, I went to school as a HOOKER. (I don't think anyone guessed, but that's what I was.) I wore burgundy hose, high heeled 70's slut shoes from my sister, shorts that had elastic around the legs (kind of like the 80s bubble skirts... except shorts :lol2: ), tight tank top, a hat with a feather and I carried a flipping CANE. Oh and slutty gold jewelry. I thought I was looking migh-tee fine. Oh and that was also the first day that I got AF. A banner day for the Bridget. I got "hooked up" to woman-hood you might say. :lol:
Clare
August 4th, 2006, 08:24 PM
Nice image Bridget :lol:
I don't know that Donna Summer song, but anything with Toot toot in the title screams Wiggles at me. I don't think their toot toot song is about hookers though :lol:
She Works Hard for the Money was about a single mother who worked eleventy billion jobs to support her kids.
Saturday morning here. Today is the normal round of tennis, ballet and Irish dancing classes with some grocery shopping squeezed in. Tomorrow we have a Christening to go to, and like Amy, I'm not looking forward to keeping Sam quiet in Church :errr:
Nichole
August 4th, 2006, 08:31 PM
No, I don't think it is, Clare. :lol: If it is, there are going to be some pissed off parents. :lol: (:secret: the song is Bad Girls)
Nice costume, Bridget. :lol2: Your mom let you out the door with that getup? :lol:
MrsPeacefrog
August 4th, 2006, 08:46 PM
(kind of like the 80s bubble skirts... except shorts :lol2:
Okay I popped back in while I wait for my father to ring (he is coming to help me out at the shops as Mum can't look after the kids)
AND THIS IS WHAT I COME IN AND SEE! :errr: the image of that item of fashion is FREAKING ME OUT! :lol:
Evening, all (except Clare and Deb...good morning to you)! I just cracked into my Friday night bottle of wine...ahhhhh
This weekend, not too much going on. Our town is having Heritage Days this week, so we're planning on heading up to that tomorrow morning and seeing what's going on. Tomorrow night we may take a picnic dinner to the beach - I'm dying to go, but I don't think it would be wise to take Anna in the middle of the day.
Sunday, probably more of the same, but with grocery shopping and dinner with my Dad thrown in...
TtownAnne
August 4th, 2006, 09:28 PM
Ah, I'm so stuffed with yummy food and beer I could explode. And yet I'm considering a bowl of ice cream! :wtf: :lol:
DH is outside smoking a cigar since it's not 7 trillion degrees, and I'm falling on the floor laughing at Eddie Izzard on BBCAmerica.
Ugh, the idea of Christmas shopping in August makes me twitch a bit. I've bought one or two things, but doing it all this far out is amazing! (Target here doesn't have layaway, too)
Shel
August 4th, 2006, 10:09 PM
My mother and step-dad are coming tomorrow (and bringing Kaleb) to stay all night then they are going to the Brickyard race on Sunday. That means I get to clean tomorrow. I've been trying to scrap today, but the kids were being most uncooperative and I'm unmotivated. Did the grocery store today and Owen grabbed the eggs out of the cart and threw them on the floor. Lovely start to the weekend, no?
Nichole
August 4th, 2006, 10:19 PM
Ooh Anne, I'm going to have to look to see if Eddie Izzard is on here tonight! Hopefully I haven't missed him. He is hilarious!
Yuck, Shel. :dead: To the eggs and the cleaning. :dead:
Bridget
August 4th, 2006, 11:36 PM
I don't know what/who Eddie Gizzard is. (Yeah, yeah I know it's Izzard, but Gizzard sounds funnier.)
I feel tired. Even though I know I'm going to be confined to dial up for two days I think I may have to go to bed. :dead:
Glad you all liked my ho story. My mom was kind of "live and let live" when it came to clothing. :lol:
Nichole
August 4th, 2006, 11:48 PM
Oh Bridget, you would love him! He's a British transvestite comedian and so freaking funny! You need to check him out. It's on in 15 minutes here, and I can't wait!
Good night, Bridget! Enjoy your time with your parents. :)
August 5th, 2006, 12:05 AM
Night, Bridget.
We have NO plans!! :woo: Happy, happy, joy, joy.
We just finished playing cards (Alfredo and I) I got beat, bad. :lol:
I wish I was done with Christmas shopping! Way to go, Deb!
MrsPeacefrog
August 5th, 2006, 02:02 AM
yeah well, that's kids christmas shopping not everyone else! :rolleyes: AND if it wasn't for the MAJOR savings in the huge toy sale there is NO chance I would even BOTHER doing Christmas shopping this early, but you just can't turn down the savings! We got the kids a big play swing/slide set out the back and it was $150 off!! can't say no to that! :nod:
WELLLLLLL we got GREAT news, our refinancing got approved, so all our debts are merged into our mortgage and now we have money to play with so we can decide wether we are going to do an extension, build a garage and so on! And after the official valuation the estimated market value of our house gives us over $100,000 in equity! so excitingn:ura1: So I picked me up a 6 pack of Vodka Black Ice, Tony has his beer and tonight we be celebrating!!!
Shel: sorry bout the egg incident! that would have sucked!!!
Clare
No really big plans for this weekend. I have been working like mad these last 2 days so tomorrow morning I'm doing stuff with the kiddos who are feeling quite ignored :(
In the morning will go to Home Depot for their kids workshop and we'll get a few flowers to plant on the big flower pots in the front. We might get some lunch on the way home and then we have 2 craft projects we can work on, I picked up at Michael's while Eliot was in his craft class. Blair is going to a friends house tomorrow early evening and going from there to work, maybe I will take the kids to the pool... not sure about that one... or maybe we'll rent a movie and eat lots of popcorn, they always love that.
Sunday, no plans except watch the Nascar race, finish laundry & do some picking up around here... the kiddos take advantage when Mommy is working and they turn the house upside down... seriously :nod:
Shel... ugh about the eggs :dead: Poor little Owen and his boo-boo, how scary must've been for him (I checked out your journal :supergrin )
Deb... great deals! Yes, worth doing Christmas in July when there are awesome bargains :aok: And woohoo for the refinancing going thru! :banana:
Bridget... I actually remember those kind of shorts :lol2: And no, I didn't have a pair of them
MrsPeacefrog
:lol2: Mary.. don't worry I believe we were ALL victims of the 80's, I had one of those tragic bubble skirts, AND ruffle skirts, and gasp, one was a ruffle bubble skirt :errr: so terribly tragic! I used to wear it with those stretchy belts, two different kinds of fluro socks on the same feet and :errr: shoulder pads. :lol2:
Okay, we all need to seriously hurt Brydgyt for starting us on this tragic path!
AmyP
August 5th, 2006, 06:40 AM
All this 80's talk reminds me that they were talking on the radio yesterday about leggings being back in style. But now it's essential to cover your butt when you wear them. Ummmm....no. I think I'll stick to just putting my daughter in leggings thankyouverymuch.
I have to call my parents in a bit and see how my brother is doing. I hope to visit him in the early afternoon unless he is going home before then today. Honestly, I'm not betting on him coming home today if they don't even know what's wrong with him. :( I guess he'll miss our niece's christening as well.
I hear someone using her crib mattress as a trampoline, so I'm outta here.
August 5th, 2006, 07:55 AM
Well it was 100 yesterday but supposed to be only 89 today and tomorrow here. We went to Dinner at Nakatos. It is a Japaneese restarurant and then we came back to the condo, took the kids to the beach for a bit and then came in for the night. Today we are going to House of Blues for Breakfast, walking around Barefoot Landing for a bit, takeing the kids for one last trip to the beach and pool and then we will order in Hamburger Joe's for Dinner. We are also going to take the kids to the fun spot (nascar amusement park) tonight!
Somewhere in there I have to pack.
Tomorrow we will get up, load the car, eat breakfast and then make the 11.5 hr. Drive back to Salem. Tomorrow we drive along that Highway 77. Please say a few prayers and think of us. THis is the scary part of my trip I am not looking forward to.
Have a good one everyone!
Nichole
Knickers! I had some, too! :lol: They were black velvet; my Christmas outfit. :lol:
I really need to get my rear in gear this morning. I need to finish the laundry and do some food shopping before our guests get here this afternoon. We're going over to my mom and dad's midday to see my uncle and his SO and then coming back here when the ILs get in. Busy day. Somebody tell me to get off of here. :lol:
Ami
:hug99: Jayne.
:woo: Deb, that is awesome news. Hope you aren't paying for your partying this morning. :biggrin:
Speaking of 80's styles. Guess what I saw at Old Navy? They had a mannequin dressed in a mini skirt with leggings under it!! They have leggings in all colors. :lol: If I fall for that trend again I will die. :lol:
Deb, awesome news on the refinancing! :woo:
No plans for us this weekend. Of the 72 hour weekend (8am Fri-8am Mon.), Michael has off exactly 12 hours. :disbelief. He's on a 36 hour shift now and won't get home until 8pm tonight. Then he goes back in at 8am tomorrow morning and won't get off until Mon. morning. Sucky. :dead:
We got a lat minute call from one of Stagg's cousins for cake & ice cream for their 3yo's birthday. So I need to go get a gift and a new baby gift, since they had a little girl a week ago.
Tonight I get to go to a bar with a friend for a little while. One of my other friends just got her Masters, so it is celebration time! :woo:
Yeah, only would have been better if I could have slept late, but I had to get up and go to the bathroom, and once that much :sunny: hits my brain, I'm awake. But still, it was 8:30 rather than 7:02 am with calls of "Mommy, hammie fell out of bed!" Tonight we're going to have shrimp and onion rings and salad for dinner and maybe see a movie.
Mandi... what does Michael do? Sorry he won't be around for much of the weekend.
Amy... I hope your brother is doing better :hug99:
Nichole... hey look, you're back! :lol:
Sheila... I'm so jealous (where is the pouty smilie when you need it :lol: )
Anne... I'm so jealous of you too, especially the eating lunch without having to share and you will get to eat the whole popsicle too :lol:
Lisa... that is a sweet deal on those cards! :aok:
We went to HD did the little craft, got some flowers, garden dirt & mulch. I decided to put the kids sprinkler in the front yard while I plant some flowers and clean up a bit in our front yard, it's looking terrible lately.
We were gonna go to the grocery store after HD but it was noon and so dang hot that we decided to just go back to our nice cool house. I'm making peanut chicken for dinner and I have all the stuff to make it, I just needed some stuff for the rest of the week... maybe tomorrow :supergrin
Mandi... what does Michael do? Sorry he won't be around for much of the weekend.
He's a firefighter/paramedic. His normal shifts are 24 hours, but he's worked as long as 96 hours straight before (sleeping at night when he could, of course).
I'm jealous of Anne's kid free weekend too. :lol:
Mary DK
August 5th, 2006, 03:48 PM
Lisa, I'm not that good really :shuffle:
I get the A Taste of Thai peanut sauce mix at the store, mix it with coconut milk, add some chicken, frozen stir fry veggies, extra brocoli (my kiddos loved the "little trees"), peanuts and pineapple chunks. Served with white rice and "crunchy noodles" like the boys call them or Chow Mein noodles like everybody else calls them :lol:
I like making it because is fairly easy, all I use is the stir fry pot & another one for the rice and the best part... both of the boys eat it without any complaining :aok:
Hi all! I saw my brother at the hospital. More on him in the other thread, but he's doing a lot better thankfully. Then we went out to dinner.
There's a water main break a block from here so we have next to no water pressure. Of course Sarah spread carrots in her hair at dinner and now I can't give her a bath! I wouldn't care so much, but her new cousin's christening is tomorrow. I think I might just wash her hair tomorrow morning because she'll go beserk if I give her a bath in the morning. Bath usually precedes bedtime so morning baths make her REALLY mad!
Now I'm trying to figure out what to do about her nap tomorrow. The christening is at 1:45, and we need to leave by 1:15 to make sure we get there in time to park and find everyone and sit down and all that before the ceremony. Sarah usually goes down for her nap between 12 and 1, and sleeps about three hours. I'm debating on putting her down around 11 if she's the slightest bit sleepy and just skipping the nap and hoping she sleeps through the christening or something. Otherwise I have a feeling we'll be walking the back of the church tomorrow afternoon. :rolleyes: Her cousin is in the same boat, so they should be an interesting pair tomorrow.
Clare
August 5th, 2006, 07:48 PM
Amy, does she sleep in the stroller? We are really lucky with Sam like that. If we go out around naptime he falls asleep in the car and then we transfer him to the stroller and he sleeps through. I wish that was an option for the christening we are going to today, but it's earlier then naptime so he's going to be wide awake. It will be his first time in church since his christening, so should be interesting :crazy:
Knickers! I had some, too! :lol: They were black velvet; my Christmas outfit. :lol:
We call them knickerbockers and I had several pairs :blush:
No Deb this morning? Must be a good hangover :lol:
AmyP
August 5th, 2006, 07:53 PM
Yes, she will sleep in the stroller. I don't think there's going to be anywhere in the church for the stroller, though. If she falls asleep in the car, one of us can carry her in and hopefully she'll stay asleep when we get there. If she's really tired, I can move her anywhere and as long as I'm gentle, she won't wake up.
MrsPeacefrog
August 5th, 2006, 11:10 PM
No Deb this morning? Must be a good hangover :lol:
OY ISN'T THAT THE TRUTH!! :shuffle:
Silly me had that one too many, I felt myself getting to that stage, and thought "hmmm better stop now" but of course to my dismay my better judgement did not take over and I went too far! :lol2:
It was a great night though, we ended up out the back in the freezing cold playing "around the world" in darts at 2am (how I could even see the board I can't remember) but I did manage to get to 14 :lol: I crawled into bed about 4am and Tony got up to the kids, and I got to sleep in till 11:30!! :ura1:
Feeling a bit foggy (it's 1pm now) but it was a good celebration... Oh and we ordered Chinese for dinner, we haven't done that in FOREVER and it was sooooo yummy :lick:
So I can safely say today I am going to be doing absolutely NOTHING :heee:
Now I am off to read the last few posts of this thread properly.. I will be back.
Today at the christening I now have the added task of keeping Anna away from Sarah. She's sick today and is still going to the christening and I don't want her getting Sarah sick, especially because we're leaving for vacation next Friday night. My brother and SIL will be too busy with Emily for one thing, and I remember when Sarah was a newborn and Anna had a cold, they had her giving Sarah kisses. :rolleyes:
They are basically M&M's, aren't they, Kate?
Another day by myself with the kids. :( :lol: I did get to run to Super Walmart at 5am to get a few groceries that we needed by myself before Michael went to work. :woo: :rolleyes:
Well, we made it through the christening. Sarah was really good. She curled up in my lap and conked out during the ceremony. Then she woke up as we were leaving the church and was generally well-behaved the rest of the day. She'll be getting an early bedtime tonight, though, because she only slept maybe half an hour today.
Man, I am STARVING lately. I ate breakfast and lunch, so why am I ravening hungry at 5pm? All I've done today is drive! Caroline's home from my parents, she stuffed herself silly and went to bed late every night so she's going straight to bed after the new Blue's Clues show tonight. Then we're facing the last week of camp. What on earth will we do for a month until school starts?!?
Glad she was good for ya!!
Strep throat in the summer??? Yep! My boy has it!! Had it beginning of May...and now again! He started Friday night with a sore throat..By last night he said it hurt to swallow...Today he started spitting instead of swallowing while I was at church...so I called the ped. She called in an order for us to do a strep test at the hosp without going through the ER. Positive...( I should really invent an at home strep test LOL) she called in meds for him. Ugh..
Aren't Smarties different flavors depending on the color, too? I remember trying them and thinking there was something very different about them comparted to M&Ms. :scratch:
I'm sneaking on from my parents' house because everyone is napping and I can't fall back to sleep. Shhh.... :scan: :lol:
We have smarties here, no they aren't different flavours, but I personally prefer M&M's the M&M shell is softer, the smartie shell is a little harder and they are definately alot bigger in diameter than a M&M. My kids prefer smarties because they have brighter colours :lol:
MMMMMM chocolate! I need to stop talking about it because I am on a serious diet and need to get this weight off so I can get back to a normal life!.. ACK the sacrifice!
Well it's Monday here, I hope you are all enjoying the final hours of your weekend. I got the 2 older boys off to daycare, and then went and did the post run for the items we sold on the weekend, then photocopied our ID for our refinancing stuff now I need to find me a JP so they can certify our photocopies! ACK. But it's 10:30am and Jacob is sleeping and I am enjoying the peace and quiet that is my house!
We're off to see Dorothy the Dinosaur's Dance Party this morning :woo: I was worried about keeping track of my two boys but turns out now that I'm taking 4 kids on my own :errr: My friend that I was going with had an incident on the weekend. She has a crazy neighbour who has attacked their house and cars before, now she's attacked her! On Saturday she opened her front door only to have crazy neighbour pull a knife on her and threaten to slit her throat :eek: Crazy lady is being released from jail this morning, so my friend has gone to the courthouse to get a restraining order. She's not sure how long it will take so she might miss the show. So I'm taking her kids as well as mine :errr: Wish me luck!!!
Good luck wrangling four kids at the show.
Oh yikes, Clare! :errr: Best of luck with the kid wrangling! Hopefully it will be so much fun that they'll be enthralled and stay in one spot. :crossfing
You've had a busy morning already, Deb! :faint: Should we talk about liverwurst instead of chocolate? Does that kill your appetite enough? :lol:
Holy crap, Clare. What the HELL is wrong with people?? Good luck with the 4 kids on your own! Especially being 2 aren't your's that always heightens the mission!
Nichole: :puke: okay you ruined my appetite all together... THANKS :hug99: :heee:
Yeah busy morning as usual, it sucks the only day I get off is Monday with the 2 boys in daycare but I always end up having to do something on those days so I never get to truly relax! :blue: (wah wah poor me :lol: ) And to add onto my list I forgot I am supposed to go to pick up an enrolement form for Aiden to start school in February. I just to wait for Jacob to wake up.. the little darling is STILL sleeping after I put him down at 10am (it's 12:15pm) now! :love1:
My friend showed up just before the show started which was great. I was starting to stress with the 4 kids by myself. Maddy wanted to hold my hand and Matthew wanted to sit on my lap which pretty much meant that I couldn't keep hold of my own kids! I was very glad to finally see her! The show was hilarious. They have these two fake Wiggles called Mario and Jordan who sing all the songs and the characters come out and dance. Mario was a gay Latino whose eyes were so big I don't know how they didn't pop out of his head :lol:
My days off are like that too, Deb :rolleyes: Never have any time to relax!
