Well Tony finally came good on his promise for a birthday present I will love!

For my 30th Birthday he got me the complete box set of all 7 seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer :heee:

Now the amount of friends that looked at me like I was a crazy nutbag to spend that much money on something like that, made me realise that I may be of a small cult minority that actually LOVED that show!

So whats your secret love/obsession/hobby/TV show that not many people know of or you would be a little embarrassed to admit.

No judgements here! I promise! :heee:

Historical stuff. As I've said around here numerous times, "I am the completest of history geeks..." I will watch any show on television related to vanished cultures or ancient ruins. Working on an archaeological dig is a fantasy of mine. I think old pictures are simply amazing simply because so many people see it almost as a movie or people in costume or something and yet I can envision them as real people doing real things. I've told DH that if he dies early and leaves me with the insurance money, I'm moving to London and claiming sanctuary at Wesminster Abbey so I'll have a place to stay!

:hp:  I am obsessed with the boy  I will listen to the audio books over and over, watch the movies just as many times and visit http://mugglenet.com/ many, many times a day... the only Harry movie I didn't have was the first one, only 'cause dh kept saying he would buy it for me..many bdays, christmas's have come and gone and yet nothing, so while we were out the other day I spotted it on clearance( $5.99 for dvd!) :woo:

So many obsessions, so little time. (Really.)

But my biggest and baddest one would be :secret: beauty pageants.

Not that I've ever really made a secret of it, though. I just love watching beauty pageants! If I could go watch one in real life, I would, I reallyreallyreallyreallywould. :blush1:

Do you listen to the Harry Potter podcasts, Lisa? Now there's obsession for you- I haven't started yet, but DH listen to Pottercast regularly  I'm a bit obsessed with Harry too...

And my real secret obsession- adventure video games! Fortunately for me, they're not making them like they used to- people are more interested in action games. (Although, unfortunate, since there will probably never be a conclusion to my true obsession series- Gabriel Knight)

TtownAnne
August 2nd, 2006, 10:10 AM
Then Bridget, that's how we'll meet. Miss USA (or is it Miss America?) has been held in Maryland for the past two years. If you can get here, I'll take you to the pageant. :heee:

Girlo

Mine is probably the Simpson's. :heee: Luckily, it's Paul's too! We watch it 3x a day....every day (on Fox). It doesn't matter that we've seen every episode multiple times....we just love it.
Alex can hear the theme music from the other end of the house, and will run into the family room screaming, "The Simpson's are on!!!" :lol2: Pretty funny from a 2yo.....

Plus, we have the first 7 seasons on DVD and are religiously watching for the sale of future seasons......

Bridget, you're scaring me man! :scan: Nice siggie

I love CSI (the original one), when Bravo has marathons all I want to do is sit there and watch it... unfortunately I have 2 kids, a DH, work and a house that get in the way :angry2: I'm starting to feel the same way about House

Another Buffy addict checking in!

May I note that two of our admitted Buffy addicts have sons named Riley....

Of course I'm no better considering I named my child Sarah. No, her middle name is not Michelle! But I will say that Buffy is part of the reason I considered the name.

I also like Dawson's Creek . I watched it quite a bit on cable when Sarah was a newborn and nursing 24/7.

I'm also a big Harry Potter fan.

Karri, I think I love you! Me too! I can tell what the episode is about about 30 seconds into the show. And let me tell you, I was never so excited the day that I saw the episode where Steve and Janet got married. I had never seen it and I was so excited I recorded it to watch again! :heee:

My other secret love is Newlyweds on MTV. I really want the 3rd/final year on DVD. I have a secret crush on Nick Lachey.

 Sarah & Elizabeth (for which Buffy is a nn) were on our short list of names for Katie. :scan: Stagg vetoed both because of SMG's scene in Cruel Intentions where she was sitting on the bed saying "I just wanna f--." He didn't think it was an image he could ever get out of his head. (I don't actually think he wants it out of his head, either. )

:lol2: That's great! "William the Bloody" (because his poetry is so bloody awful).

I don't think I'd have much luck getting DH to agree to Riley as a name for any possible son we'd have. William is out too. Too bad.

I will say I also thought of Allison (for Alyson Hannigan), but it didn't make the top of our list.

Beverly Hills, 90210. I can watch it over and over and over and over. If I could get every season on DVD, I would :blush1:I was just going to post the same thing. I recently was going through old VHS tapes to toss, and it was really, really hard to throw my randomly recorded 90210 shows out. (I might have kept a few?) I really wish Party of 5 would come out on DVD too.

I think along these lines, any bad TV show about teenagers is my problem. I watch way too much MTV - The Hills, Laguna, Cheyenne. TG I can't quite deal with Real World anymore. I'll even at times get sucked into something dumb like Next. And yes, I might not turn a showing of Saved by the Bell off. :scan:

I am not so secretly obsessed with HGTV, its on all day long and I pvr when I cant watch, this is probally why I didnt get into shows like 90210 or Buffy they were in the way of Take this House and Sell it or Small space! My ultra secret TV obseesion in Charmed....I was actually livid when it rained so hard that the sat. couldnt pick up the signal for the finale....:fado: Dh thought I was having a huge hormonal breakdown cause he thought I was taping it "For a friend..."

Mine is not a secret. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Friends. I can quote almost any episode and name all kinds of trivia.

KristenF

Not so secret... HUGE Lost addict.

HUGER Yankees addict-watch every game, all pre-game and post game (and HATE when it's on a network and there's no post game :realmad: ) listen to it on the radio if I'm in the car, and I listen to ESPN radio during the day. I make fun of Frank that we have role-reversal... he always wants to "talk" and I just want to watch sports

In ancient history, I was totally obsessed with Ally McBeal and Party of 5... ah, those were the days. But at least I get my dose of Fox on Lost :lick: And I will ALWAYS stop for A Different World when I see it on anymore... it used to be the only thing on when I was getting ready in the am so I started watching it by default... and got to the point where I would be late to work so I could see the end (especially the one where Dwayne crashed Whitley's wedding :love3: ah, after all these years, I've still got the sickness)

So for my secret obsession... though I don't know the time it's on or anything, whenever I flip past My Fair Brady, I just HAVE to watch, its like a train wreck. I actually made Frank and the kids suffer through the wedding epi on Sunday because I just could NOT look away.

I really wish Party of 5 would come out on DVD too.

Party of Five is on DVD (seasons 1 and 2)

And my secret obsessions are Moonlighting and Breakfast Club. I have more dialog memorized from those than any person should. Especially Breakfast Club.

I'm with you, Alyssa. Total MTV junkie. And I feel so old now that I'm watching shows on a bunch of teenagers.

I'll also watch 90210, but I prefer the ones after high school. Look at me--a 90210 snob. I've been catching a few Melrose Place episodes on, but those aren't good to watch with sponge-like ears and eyes listening (AKA my kids).

Ever since I went on maternity leave with Riley (so more than 2.5 years ago), I got hooked on Gilmore Girls reruns. So much so that Riley now dances whenever she hears the opening song. We still watch those at 4 during the afternoon if we're around the house.

Nichole
August 2nd, 2006, 03:24 PM
As far as TV shows, go...Sabrina the Teenage Witch :shuffle: I used to watch the reruns every evening. :blush1: I'm also a big Buffy and GG fan. :aok:

I also have a weird thing for old pictures. Like the really old, old ones that you see in antiques shops. I could spend hours flipping through the boxes of them, making up stories for the nameless people in them.

I'm a horror movie junkie. Love them all and if I get the opportunity I'll watch one, anytime of day or year (as long as the kids aren't around, of course).

I also love watching the whiskey tango shows on Maury where one woman tests like 75 men to see who the baby's daddy is. :shuffle:

Mandi - we need to get together and have a movie/tv fest!!

I *LOVE* horror movies - the more frightening, the more gorey, the better. :heee: It sucks that I haven't been able to satisfy my craving for these (esp. when there's some good ones out there now) because Alex is always watching. I got a Hollywood Video gift card for my bday and I'm having a horror fest one night soon and putting Alex to bed early one night for it.

I also love those Maury shows because I always feel so bad for the women who have tested 10 guys and STILL can't find out who their baby daddy is. Totally sad.....

Steve and Janet got married? :faint: How did I miss that?

My obsessions aren't secret. #1 is Australian Idol (season 4 starts on Sunday :woo: ) I won't miss a minute. If you call me during AI, don't expect me to pick up the phone :noqueno:

I also love Seinfeld and will watch it every time it's on, no matter how many times I've seen it.

Shannon - Sam knows the Simpsons music too, but we don't watch it :dunno:

Sex and the City. Seriously I have the whole complete set plus all seasons separately except the last. Of course Mark bought it for me but I get plenty of use out of it. I watch the reruns on TBS both nights and it's on at 11pm. Even though those episodes are very edited I still get a kick out of it.

Yes! She was pregnant and they invited all of their friends on a scavenger hunt for weird stuff. In the end they had to meet to put everything together and they got married in some park. Oh and Wayne, Donna's surfer boyfriend, went to my high school! :heee:

Another odd one I thought of...I could read maps for hours.

And this isn't a big secret, but like Kristen and her Yankees obsession, I'm that way with the Red Sox. We just got DirecTV today so we can watch them in HD. We were down with TV last night b/c the installation failed due to a power outage, and I was in a super pissy mood b/c I couldn't come home and watch the game. :shuffle:

I forgot a few more.

I love Sailor Moon - it's an anime show. I even went to an anime convention a few years ago dressed as Sailor Jupiter. I don't think I have any pictures, but I'll post them if I find them! I have episodes on my computer, some on CD, VHS, and a few DVD's. Of course I've seen all of it and the ending and watching something with subtitles is tiring so I haven't watched much of it at all lately.

I own all seven seasons of Buffy and all five of Angel. But I'm with Amanda, what's so weird about that?

I love video games. DH and I have a GameCube, XBox, PS2, and a ton of older systems in the house and we play all the current systems regularly. I'm such a dork I have programs on my computer installed so that I can play older games from Super Nintendo, the old Nintendo, Atari 2600, and even the Commodore 64.

I'm another one that is 90210 obsessed. I didn't know they were coming out on DVD! I remember when they had a reunion show a couple of years ago and I was so excited because I thought they were going to actually have a show and we'd see where they all where now. Nope, it was just a few of them sitting around talking and reminiscing (sp?) about old shows. It sucked and I was so disappointed.

My other secret obsession would probably be cheerleading. If I catch it on ESPN, I'm hooked. There was also an MTV show (Becoming or something like that) where a girl was working at becoming a cheerleader. Also, if we go to a football or basketball game, I'll watch the cheerleaders more than the actual game.

Seinfeld.
Futurama.
Golden Girls.
Nanny.

Any movie that has water or space in it-I'm there...so by definition, "Sphere" is one of the absolute favorites, I must have watched it 15 times.

Oh yeah, I have no idea why, but "Paycheck" has a hold of me I can't explain. I literally watched it 4-5 times the weekend we rented it..and another 10-13 times since then. I'm a geek.

Yes, Riley was named after Riley from Buffy but only because Tony REFUSED me Angel :lol2:

I am also with Mandi and I will sit and watch that "My boyfriends cousin might be my babies daddy" Maury shows a thousand times over! I just love watching them be 250% sure that man is my babies daddy.. then their reactions when they aren't. It kills me every time!

I should add I am a CSI freak too, and my secret secret obsession is that whenever a new PC CSI game comes out I buy it immediately and sit at my laptop for 2-3 days straight playing it till I finish it! stuff the laundry, and I only come up to breath to feed the kids, pat them on their heads for a few minutes of attention ( joking of course) (not really) and then I am back to playing it

Oh and the OUAL obsession is just a given! NOBODY knows except Tony
