Time to get past things and move on to new things, so that means a new Top Five! :woo: :rahrah:

So tell me about the top five things you would change in and around your home. (because I'm seriously debating doing some painting while my paint-phobic husband is in Vegas in November! )

1. New kitchen...the old lady who lived here before FH pretty much never updated, and while FH put in a new floor and painted, it needs lots of new stuff.

2. New bathroom...same deal. We're thinking of gutting it, putting in a nice tile floor, painting it, new tub, new shower, the works.

3. New paint color in our 2nd bedroom. It's kinda plain and while I don't dislike it, it would be fun to paint it a different color (I love to paint!).

4. Add a driveway. We probably won't ever get around to this, plus our street is so freaking narrow, but it's fun to dream!

5. Landscaping...I learned about what grows well and what doesn't in our yard this year, and next year I want to do a kickass job on the landscaping. Bright flowers, bigger veggie garden, etc.

1. Have to redo the girls bathroom. I think the sheetrock above the shower is starting to fall. :errr: They also didn't use bathroom paint, so it's peeling off.

2. I would like to do something about the tar roof. It makes our house soooo hot. I read about foam roofing online and that sounds interesting to be, but the website was from California, so I'm not sure if anyone in Wyoming does it. I'd like to though!!

3. I'd love to put different flooring in the kitchen/dining room because it gets so dirty. It's blue pergo though and so unique that I'm not sure I could bear taking it out.

4. Vinyl siding, it lasts forever

5. Not at all feasible I don't think, but I'd like a bigger kitchen. We have an alley type and it's way too small.

1. Paint the bathrooms. I have the paint for one of them but haven't had the time to do it.

2. Buy a new comforter/duvet/quilt for my room.

3. Find something to put over my sectional in the family room.

4. Clean the office! I have paperwork everywhere and once that is neatly organized, it'll look like I renovated

5. Finish the guestroom. Still need things for the walls and paint the ugly bureau I have white.

A new kitchen and I mean expanded. My kitchen is too small. New cabinets, new floor, new island...new everything!

Tile all the bathrooms and the laundry room.

Expand our back deck and have an outdoor kitchen and living room.

Add a 4th bedroom so we could have an office.

Paint the exterior of the house!!!!

1. PAINT - wall behind the TV in the living room, our bedroom, Caroline's bedroom, and maybe the master bath. I don't have a problem with the color that's here (sort of a champagne/cream/taupe, kwim?) but I like some variety too!

2. New carpet throughout; we're still with builder-grade beige. It's in the plans, but I want it NOW!

3. New curtains for LR/DR/office.

4. Finish the basement (again, in the long-range plans, but if we're dreaming I'll take it now. )

5. remove carpet from master bath :puke: and lay tile or something.

Family room (basement) - Paint, new carpet, drop ceiling.
Laundry room (basement) - shelving for food, new wash tub sink, new cabinets with a sorter and folding table, rod for hangers and hanging clothes.
Bathroom - put in the jacuzzi tub, new cabinets and new flooring, new sink, new light.
Kitchen - new cabinets, new dishwasher, new stove, new sink.
Outside - Roof , soffit, gutters, landscaping.

we are currently working on the family room and should be done in a couple of weeks, then on to the laundry room.

Next year will be the roof, soffit, and gutters and perhaps some landscaping.

Every room in the house needs new trim and doors. We will work on those over the winter.

Kitchen and bathroom will hopefully be in the next couple of years. We already have the tub. It just needs to be installed.

Mine is just a to-do list of stuff that's going to be done.....it's just not yet. :heee:

1. Finish the trim on the living room window and the garden window in the kitchen (inside)
2. New front door (we're getting this in the fall!)
3. Landscaping for the front yard
4. Replace the sink/faucet/tub faucet/countertop in our bathroom
5. Paint the outside of the house

Like Shannon, mine is a to-do list, all waiting on time and money...

1 - new carpeting in downstairs rec room (omg. current stuff is hideous!) and paint on the walls in there

2 - paint laundry room. the walls are so dirty. shoudlnt be that way in a room that i clean clothes in!

3 - new driveway & front porch. we have a totally sanford & sons porch and driveway. its embarassing. aidan picks big pieces out of our porch. one day we're going to step out and its going to collapse :heee:

4 - paint on the screens/storms. ugh. they are peeling and icky. but that involves scraping them and priming and painting. i wish i could hire someone.

5 - paint the garage! why we didnt pay the painters to do this, i have no clue.

1:finish the basement, make it more than just a massive storage place for crap

2: driveway, that may be next year

3:buy new furniture

4:finish our ensuite bath, the sink and toilet are there but no tub

5: design a better storage system in the laundry room, it looks like crap all the time

1. New carpeting- it's really light, and stains if you look at it the wrong way.
2. New bushes- several of hours have really suffered in the heat, and don't look like they'll pull through- and we lost 2 last year.
3. Repaint the master bath- the last owners painted it just before they left, so it's still in great condition- but I'm not crazy about the color...
4. Take out the butterfly garden in the back yard- the plants are very weedy looking, and don't really attract many butterflies- I'm thinking of doing this in the next year, and maybe put in a lilac bush, or a cutting garden.
5. New couch in the living room- ours was totally destroyed by my 1st cat, but we've been living with it.

For our house in the US:
1) Finish the basement so all the kid crap could go down there.
2) Kitchen redo: new countertops and cabinets at the very least
3) Rip out the tons of landscaping in the back and side and replace with grass.

That's it!

Okay, must ask - how does a car destroy a couch, unless you drove the car into the living room?

5. New couch in the living room- ours was totally destroyed by my 1st car, but we've been living with it.

 Eleanor! I was wondering that too!
and  Karri at your Sanford and Sons porch/driveway!

Thankfully the previous owners renovated a bunch in our house, but it doesn't mean I like it all!
1. Sunroom - needs to be better insulated and HVAC put in so that it could be a 4 season porch.

2. BIGGER HVAC vents put in our bedroom upstairs. It's freezing in the winter, boiling hot in the summer. :dead:

3. TOTAL renovation of our 1947 aqua and black tiled bathroom. :dead:

4. 12 new windows. Preferrably ones that open and aren't painted shut.

5. Totally finished basement.

1) change all our carpets....especially the 80s dusty pink one in our master bedroom :dead:
2) tile our foyer
3) paint the media room....only room in the house left to paint.
4) change sink to a pedastal sink in the powder room
5) finish the rooms we are currently working on (kitchen and Emma's big girl room)

1. Paint practically the whole house. When we built in 2001 Alex decided not to pay painters but that he'd do it himself. Well he painted 2 bedrooms and one bathroom and that's it. The rest of the house is still plaster walls.

2. Put skirting boards around the hardwood floor (again something Alex thought would be cheaper to do himself but still hasn't  )

3. Add another bedroom so we have a guest room

4. Landscaping in the backyard

5. Put in shower screens rather then curtains in the two showers.

Since we're renting, this is truly a dream:
1) pave the driveway. I can't stand sand/rock driveways

2) pay a landscaper to get rid of our crab grass and make the lawn look nice (and maybe get rid of the dead trees in the back

3) add a pool in the backyard

4) Finish off the room above the garage, we're using it and it doesn't have sheetrock yet

5) remove the fugly wallpaper in the kitchen/dining

1. Remove and replace all ceiling fans upstairs. I'd put a chandelier in our bed and bath and get new fans for son's and daughter's room.

2. Change out all downstairs carpet to hardwood.

3. Buy a new front door.

4. Have all the interior doors removed, stripped, and repainted. The paint is chipping on some of them and it bugs me.

5. Have the yard redone and put in some different landscaping.

1. Move (but if I could wave a magic wand and change things regardless of the move I'd...)

2. Get rid of our hideous carpeting.

3. Decorate some more, somethng for which I seldom seem to make time even though it is totally out of character.

4. Finish repairing all the decks.

5. Fix the leaky windows. :errr:

1. Replace the white linoleum in the kitchen. Well, it used to be white........

2. Redecorate our master bedroom/bathroom. The walls are still white, and I hate the yellow comforter set.

3. New carpet (but only after our cat dies so she doesn't claw the new stuff  )

4. Redo the perennial bed border. It's an old wood fence looking thing and it's falling apart.

4. Fence in the backyard

Clare! I don't think 5 choices would be enough to handle THAT house.
