Today I was driving home after meeting Keith for lunch. He works 33 miles away from where we live. So I started thinking how much nicer it would be if we lived closer, so that his communte would be shorter. But then I was thinking, "geez, if we moved closer for him it would be X amount of miles to the nearest grocery store/gas station, etc".

I'm out in the "country". I live in a master-planned community in the Estrella Mountains. The goal is to have everything we, as a community, need...but it's still very new, so we have to travel for somethings...

It's not a place where you would have to drive through unless you had a reason to go up the mountain. It's about 15 minutes off the freeway.

It does have K-12 schools, a small market and VERY high priced gas station, a video rental store, church, 2 lakes, parks, fire station and police station, golf course/club, gym/recreation center...very resort-like...but...I spend a LOT of money on gas...

Gas station same (next to grocery store), but the ones I use are about 2 miles away

Warehouse club Sam's Club is 3 miles away, but we like to use BJ's because they carry baby food and accept major credit cards, that's 7 miles away

Church (if you attend) about 10 miles away (the one we attend), there are a couple churches maybe 1-2 miles away

School where your children attend/will attend Well...that's a tough one because we're not positive where she'll go. The elementary school we're districted to is 2.5 miles away. The one where I hope she'll go (it's a magnet school) is 11 miles away

Home improvement store Home Depot is 3 miles away (same shopping center as Sam's Club)

Restaurants (fast food and others) McDonald's is about 1 1/2 miles away, a lot of other restaurants are around within 5 miles of us
