View Full Version : When should I buy her shoes?

Sarah is finally walking. At this point, it's still mostly a few feet at a time, and more of a toddle than a real walk if that makes sense. It's hot around here, so I've been letting her go barefoot for the most part since we don't really go places at this point where she'd walk around anyway. If we do, it's for babies and toddlers so nobody cares anyway (story time at the library, play area at the mall).

I'm just wondering if there is a point I really need to get her some shoes. She has a pair of sandals right now she's about to outgrow and a pair of Robeez that have some growing room. Is that okay until it gets cold out or should we get her some shoes now?

Amy when Brookelyn started walking we had mostly Robeez. They were great and they kept her feet warm! I also really like Bear Feet Shoes. They're super soft and cushy and bendable. Our pediatrician even suggested them to us as 'learning to walk shoes'. :)

I would think Robeez would be okay for now, but real shoes by fall would be a good idea - she'll be more stable on her feet by then and for playing outside, etc.

Amy, what size does she wear? I've held onto some of Brookelyn's shoes (all in EUC) and might have some that would fit Sarah.

I agree. I think that she's fine in Robeez right now and by fall when she's more steady she'll be ready for harder soled shoes.

I agree w/ everyone else, as well. Its better for them to learn using their bare feet (or the closest thing to them), so Robeez or the like are aok. I would start using shoes when you're outside in fall when the weather gets cooler and more damp/wet.

I'd assume she's about a 4. The Robeez she has are 12-18 months and she's got a decent amount of growing room in them.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Amy, I'll echo the others. :) I put Graham mostly in Robeez, even outside in our backyard, but if we are going out to the cousins or to Mason's sports events then I put shoes on him. I'm glad she's doing so well in the walking department. :)

I agree with all the above. In fact I am waiting until fall to get Catherine a new pair of Bobux for around the house b/c she wouldn't get much wear out of them right now in the hot weather. Her old ones will do on the rare occasion I put them on her.
