What sorority? Phi Mu

What school? Michigan State

When did you graduate? 1994

Good experience over all? Not so good? Overall, good. Got involved in A LOT of amazing activities and met some inspiring people. Some bitchiness was irritating, and it wasn't always easy to balance friendships outside and inside of the house-there were never any conflicts, it was just hard to decide how to spend my time. Would definitely do it again.

Involved in Alum group? Yes, for a couple of years, and the women were really nice. I dropped off after Zack was born, but am thinking about getting back into it to get some adult interaction.

:secret: So tell us about your secret initiation rites.

(I wasn't in one.)

Seriously, I don't think I even remember 1/8 of the initiation  Ya know, they tell you what the letters of your sorority stand for, which is a pretty big deal... and I don't think I remembered it right even from that day

Good thread, Kristen! I'm anxious to see what the turnout is like!

What sorority? Sigma Kappa

What school? Iowa State University

When did you graduate? 2001

Good experience over all? Not so good? Overall, it was a great experience. I made some really good friends. Didn't like all the rules, etc. Because at that point, I wanted to be able to do what I want, when I wanted. But the friendships were great and I met tons of amazing people!

Involved in Alum group? No. I keep up with the alumni newsletter and donate. But I have plans to do more once my kids get a little older. :)

We had all sorts of history and meanings of things that we had to learn and memorize. I remember a lot of it, but definitely not all of it! We had actual classes at the house a couple times a week to learn all of this. Funny, I don't really remember initiation much either?! It wasn't horrible, I know that! I think it's definitely worse for fraternities!

OH yeah, our initiation was very girly and gentle. Intense, but not hazing or anything, during the whole pledge period. It was more of a love fest than anything else, almost nauseating

When I was a RhoChi my partner was a Sigma Kappa :) Waaaay too cute!

What sorority? Delta Zeta

What school? Michigan Technological Univerisity

When did you graduate? 1999

Good experience over all? Not so good? I think it was good. Going to a predominatly male school it was good to belong to a group of females.

Involved in Alum group? I was for awhile out here in Salt Lake but all the women here in the alum group are 50+ and all they'd really do is meet for dinner once a month.

Nope - we didn't have them at all. They were banned a few years before I started school. I don't think that stopped some undergrounds ones though. :awink:

Good experience over all? Not so good? Great experience. We had our share of drama way too often, but I met some great people and made some good friends.

What school? University of Denver

When did you graduate? 1988

Good experience over all? Not so good? Um....AWESOME! I still keep in touch with several sisters - almost 20 years later. G Phi B helped cultivate several of my interests/strengths today and loved every minute of my undergrad greek experience.

Involved in Alum group? To some extent...not as much as I'd like. As Julia gets older I will become more active though.

I never was a member of one but I never really went to one school long enough to get involved.

I wasn't in a sorority (no interest), but my first college roommate pledged Alpha Chi Omega and convinced me to be a Lil' Sis to Acacia fraternity. So....I guess I'm tied to Acacia forever. My Big Brother graduated after my first year, so I did very little with it....just went through initiation and to a few parties. :aok:

What sorority? Phi Sigma Sigma

What school? Trenton State College (now the College of NJ)

Good experience over all? Not so good? It was OK, would have been better if I was more involved. I didn't pledge until my junior year though

Involved in Alum group? no, but we do have a yahoo group for our local chapter that I'm (semi) active in. I never really got close to many of the girls.

Hey! I didn't know you went to Trenton State! I attended the NJ Governor's School of the Arts on campus when I was in HS :) (granted that was in 1989, but still  ) And of course now I still only live about an hour and a half away. Come and visit, come and visit!

What sorority? Chi Omega

What school? Northern Arizona University

When did you graduate? 1998

Good experience over all? Not so good? It was OK. I didn't have a lot of time while I was in school to actually do many of the activities (between school work, job and drumline, I was left with very little). I met some wonderful friends though, some who are still very much in my life.

Involved in Alum group? No. No real interest in that. One of my Chi-O friends is still very involved, but when I discuss it with her, it's just too much drama and I wanted to leave college behind.
