View Full Version : Does fruit flavored water count as water?

I'm just wondering. If I drink some water that is that flavored fake ass water, does that count as water? Or does that count as something else?

I guess boredom has truely set in.

Are you talking carbonated or the non-carbonated?

I don't have an answer either way but I guess it could make a difference?

I was actually just wondering the same thing. I know juice does not count even when diluted.

I think the kind that is calorie free and flavored with a hint of real fruit juice still counts. The kind I've had doesn't have any sugar and just a small bit of fruit flavor.

If you mean the bubbly kind that has hf corn syrup then I would say it doesn't count.

It's not carbonated. Just that flavored water. Like kiwi strawberry or something like that.

Just one of those random questions. Trying to drink more water and just finished off one of those bottles of flavored water and though...hmm....does this count?

Are you meaning count as in toward the amount of water you drink in a day? I always wonder this when I'm pregnant and feeling guilty about not drinking enough water. I did ask a nurse once and I think she said that flavored water does count, carbonation doesn't matter, but caffeine counts against it. (I could be remembering wrong though or remembering what I hoped the answer was!)

The stuff we have been getting is carbonated but does not list hfcs or any sugar that I can tell... The label reads 0% for everything.

And yes, I realize I spelled "thought" wrong. That's what happens when you have a 5 year old saying "mom mom mom mom mom" while you're typing.

It has no carbonation, no calories, no caffeine, "just a hint of fruit flavor."

It was 32 oz. So that'd be 4 of my 8 glasses of water. :dunno:

Cami, that's right...caffeine actually *dehydrates* you. Jen, since you are just talking about fruit flavor in water...like Fruit 2O...I'd say it counts as water!

Jen

I think caffeine can dehydrate so that would cancel out some of the water. I doubt I could ever drink 8 glasses a day.

Yeah, I'm peeing like a race horse, but I feel really great. I haven't had any caffeine in over a week. Which for me, the starbucks addict is a SHOCKER.

I've been told decaf coffee can count towards your daily water intake. :dunno:

Dude. I don't know how you survive. Seriously. :woa:

Me either. No soda, no coffee, nothing.

And I've been getting up at 4:30am every morning to go work out for 60-90 minutes. I went this morning even though I didn't get home until after 1:30am.

Although it's starting to pay off. I've lost 7lbs so far and I feel great. My pants are all falling off me.

WOW! I've never heard that coffee could count as water. I'm not sure that's accurate. I suppose there's water in lots and lots of drinks and yes, the water must be good for you, but all the other stuff is not. And how do you measure how much is actually water and how much is "the other stuff?" I think that's the main issue.

I'm kidding Jen, I'm just jealous and yes, the water you are drinking counts! Ice tea, and hot tea counts too.

 Aww...I feel the love, Rebecca Fire.

Hey? What about chai tea? I've started drinking it with soy milk. I've even stopped drinking regular milk.
I don't know what's gotten into me.

Its got water in it, but it still has other crap in it that causes it to be loaded with calories.

I don't know what's gotten into me. Soy milk has just about as many calories as skim, so if WL is your goal, nothing is going to happen there. And unless you find a decaf chai (hard to do), you're putting caffiene in your bod.

I find that sticking a slice of lemon and cucumber in my glass of water is a really nice, refreshing change of pace. Occasionally I will do a lime or an orange wedge, too. Much cheaper than the bottled fruit2 O stuff.

It says 0 calories, 0 fat, 0 caffeine. 35mg of sodium.
I'll have to try the cucumber lemon thing.

Damn, you're right!
It has 78 calories, but it's caffiene free Oregon Chai Tea. So I guess that doesn't screw my whole NO caffeine thing.

And of course I got the worst possible soy for me. It has 70 calories and 3g of fat. Guess I'll be reading the label before I buy the next box of it.

Propel fitness water has no calories? Its marketed as low calorie, not zero. Interesting.

I will have to look for the oregon chai. I can never find decaf around here and I just love chai.

Ditto. Cheaper, and I think it tastes better. I don't care for the sweetened waters, because all I taste is artificial sweetener. :dead:

Another thing that's good is iced herbal tea. Today I'm drinking iced lemon ginger tea (decaf) and it's tasty. No need for sugar, because of the flavor. :aok:

It's not propel. It's some store brand fruit flavored water that I decided to try while out on a walk yestarday. The little label says "Non carbonated, 0 cars, 0 sugars, 0 calories. Naturally flavored, with no caffeine." It was really good. Better then propel even. So if it counted as part of my water intake I might be stocking up on it. Makes drinking 64 oz of water a day easier for me.

The oregon chai is really good. They sell the decaf and regular here at costco. I'd never had it with soy milk before and it was, again, really good.

Don't know why I thought everything would taste bad if I started eating better.

Oh yes, I agree. Chris makes fun of me, but I still use my iced tea brewer (looks like a coffee maker) that I got for xmas a decade ago. I stick in a few bags and some ice and I have a nice pitcher of yummy tea.

Ice tea, and hot tea counts too.Even if it's caffeinated? I thought anything w/ caffeine basically means you should add another 8oz of water that day.

Here is info on Propel: http://www.propelfitnesswater.com/faq/ (Which I've never had, but was curious about. I'm another who likes plain water w/ lemon or on occasion the Poland Spring carbonated water...that like Jen's water is 0s across the board but I think might have 35mg sodium. Its bubbles help me in a soda craving moment. )

Not exactly lite summer beverage material, but those looking for a yummy-delish decaf chai latte might consider Chamba Chai Latte mix... holy cow, it's my caffine-free guilty pleasure! It's not "a water" so I'm kind of hijacking for a momment, and it is 3WWPoints per serving, but it's REEAAALLLY yummy! Go go gotchai.com and order you massive bucket for $30 today!

(seriously, we get it as a Christmas gift every year, and sometimes cave and buy our own. SMIL introduced us to it when she found it at Costo ages ago-we haven't seen it it a long time, but you can look there...)

Okay, hijack over!

That stuff is really good, Kristen! They carry it at our Costco in the winter and my grandma was out here for Christmas and fell in love. She was so touched when I bought a can for her to take back home.

I'm heading to costco in a bit. I'll have to see if they have it. Love chai, it's been my starbucks substitute as of lately.
