Well maybe. He had a bank that had a nickel in it then he had the bottom of the bank off and the nickel was missing. :dunno: Not sure I want to call the ped on a saturday night. Has anyone else had this experience with a one year old? I know Sheila is waiting for a necklace to show up but Flynn is littler. Plus there is a small chance he didn't swallow it but hid it.
TIA

Do you have an after hours medical line you can call for advice without having to disturb the ped? That's what I'd do. Or google "what to do when a toddler swallows a nickel". Sorry I haven't got better advice :dunno:

:errr: I agree with Clare I would call a medical line and ask them there advice, or even call the hospital and speak to the triage nurse to see what they think. And in the mean time I would be on my hands and knee's searching for that nickel!
:hug99: good luck, I hope he hasn't swallowed it!

Katie swallowed a dime a year or year and a hald ago. From what I remember, the only currency that can be dangrous is the penny. But I would call dr just to be sure.

Is a penny larger than a nickel?
Stacey, I'd call someone just to be sure. If there's no nurse's line or something that you can call for advice, I'd call the pedi. It's not like you're asking him/her to meet you. You're just going to talk to them. One of them is on call for these types of things. I'm sorry you're going through this.

Penny is smaller than a nickel, but it has something to do with the metals in the penny.
Does your insurance company or children's hospital have an advice line? I get lots of use out of the one we have.

I hope he's okay. :hug99:
You can always call TeleHealth Ontario and use MILs address. ;) 1-800-797-0000

Hey guys thanks for the advice. I ended up calling my Aunt whoo is a Nurse Practicioner. She said to wait for it unless he is seeming sick. Also to call on Monday to see if they want us to do something. If he did swallow it they would just take an xray and say to watch the diapers.
In the morning I am going to turn Saxon's room upside down to see if that Nickel is in there. Argh!
