What do you think? Is there a connection between teething and ear infections?

My mom's taking Daniel to the pediatrician today for what is probably his 3rd ear infection. The first was in April, the second on June 12, and now today. Each time he hasn't had a cold or anything, he's only been teething.

Owen went through the same things, and his pediatrician believes it's teething and drainage. He's had allergy testing done and it was all negative. Unfortunately because he's allergic to most antibiotics, if he gets one more, he gets tubes. He still has some molars and all his eye teeth to cut, so I'm just kinda planning on some tubes :(

I imagine that there is a connection. Teething seems to mess with the sinuses (hence the runny nose) so I can see where there might be problems with drainage.

I think there is. Every time Matthew got a tooth he got an EI. He got tubes at 10.5 months. The ENT didn't believe that one had to do with the other, but our ped said it happens a lot.

Sara has luckily been ok and only had 2 EIs and has 12 teeth :crossfing

Neither of my boys have ever had an ear infection and they both have plenty of teeth. :)

Turns out it wasn't an ear infection this time. But his throat was very red. :dunno:

He's never had a runny nose with teething, just alot of drooling.
