There is a thread like this on another site. And I really liked it. Let's list all the names of our babies/kids together so we can see the trends/similarities and differences. Post your babies'/kids' names and I will add them to the list. Then, once I've added yours to the list, please come back here and delete your post.

It is being updated, but I don't update it daily or anything as I don't usually see it. I do update it as I see it or get a couple to add in.

In the past I've only added the names of kids that are paid members of OUAL.

If you read the very first post, it mentions deleting your post once your child's name has been added to the list. This is to keep this thread from being pages and pages long.

Nocona, I think it makes sense to only have paid subcribers' kids listed. Otherwise, it's just a random list of names, IMO. :dunno: The original point of this thread was to have a list of the names of the community members' kids. If you're not subscribed, you're most likely not a regular poster and most of us won't know you or your kids. I figure it's just another reason to sub and join in on the fun. ;)

I agree with Nichole. And personally I'm not quite so sure why this bothers you so much. With a whopping 8 posts, why don't you subscribe, become a member and then dd's name can be added to the list! Don't worry, we've been doing this for a while....it's all under control. :)

wow. where has everyone been until recently? seriously, this has been the one post that i have been checking frequently because i think it's cool to see other kids' names.

i haven't become a member because i have no idea what the benefits would bring. and now to see the responses to my last post, well, my goodness, i certainly do not want to be a part of a group who seem so determined to make me sound like an un-chilled, un-worthy visitor.

cheeto - i don't think the thread should be anywhere else. of course it's in the perfect place. it just doesn't make sense to me why it has sat for months without any new additions made to the list. there were numerous posts made with requests for names to be added, but they just all disappeared one day - without being added to the list.

no where does it state in the original post that you have to be a community member to add your child's name... perhaps that should be added so people like me, who have a "whopping" nine posts don't waste our time... ?

How did you expect people to react to your somewhat cranky post? :dunno: If you'd take a chance to look around the rest of the board a little more, you'd see that this *is* a friendly, fun, supportive, and welcoming place.

There is no written "rule" about only having paying members' kids listed here, but I think it makes sense to abide by it unofficially. The whole point of this list was to have a central location for our community's children's names. We're friends here and interact on a daily basis. If we wanted to know what other people are naming their kids, we could venture out to other places on the web. We're not trying to be exclusive here, so I hope my explanation has helped clarify that. Why not join us on other parts of the board and get to know us and let us get to know you, and you might see that this is a fun place to waste your spare time. ;) If not, then that's your loss.

You will see that this board IS very friendly and supportive and we love having new pple. If you at least start by making an introduction in the welcome wagon, you'll see how welcoming this board is. :) But in the meantime, I'm sorry if you feel differently.

Well Kate (I think that's your name dillen's mommy) I have to agree a bit with Nichole. I know that there aren't as many forums for you to visit when you're here but I think you will find it is a very open friendly place. Also the thread was "dead" for a while because until July there were only a few babies being born.

A bit off topic but in my experience the boards on baby center I have been to are not particularly welcoming, with the exception of the molar board, which is VERY friendly.

Just to be fair, and not to start anything or add to any controversy here, this thread was dead for a LONG time, and it was kind of annoying to see that even though I had listed Caroline and Courtney, they were not added, and my post did disappear without them being added... this was way back when the thread had originally started and I did try to add them again, but it took a while to get them on and by then I also had Tatum... yes, they are all here now, but it does seem that the thread was ignored for a while. I am sure that just happens sometimes and there were not a lot of new babies, but I did want to just point it out to be fair to dillensmommy. I do agree that it should just be limited to community members, but maybe we should point that out in the first post.

With it being such an old thread, I wonder how many names are on there and the parent is no longer a community member. We should just start over and since it wouldn't be my job, I think it is a great idea.

That is very weird, because I could swear I did post for Caroline and Courtney way back when it first started. But, maybe I didn't??? Maybe it was back on UB... did we have a thread like this there?
