I don't expect Genavieve to be sleeping through the night anytime soon... but does anyone have any tips for getting her to sleep for longer periods at a time.. like 4 hours? Right now she wakes up every 2-3 hours. I am going back to work on Monday and I know I am going to have a rough time with work after getting up so much with her at night.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have!

I wish I did. Frances is almost 7 months now and is finally sleeping mostly through the night. They're all different and some just take longer to do it than others. I wish I had more advice.

before i went back to work i read 'secrets of the baby whisperer' and basically used the e.a.s.y. (eat, awake, sleep, your time) method to sleep train tony.

by 9 wks he was sleeping from approx. 10pm to 6am, which was perfect for going back to work. basically i 'tanked' him up at 10pm so he'd sleep longer.

You're nursing her, right? I would try "tanking her up" like Kim suggested...that's what I used to do with Katie and it really helped. Basically she was eating every three hours during the day...but in the evening I started feeding her every two hours. I think it helped. Also, some people swear by a dream feed and I've started doing that with Katie to help her gain weight. Katie typically falls asleep around 7:30pm, but I rouse her enough to nurse her again at around 9:30/10:00 at night.

Good luck!

Sawddling worked great for us... we used a blanket from www.miracleblanket.com (http://www.miracleblanket.com) and it was wonderful!
