Ok, so maybe I just am overthinking this since Alex NEVER slept the night and NEVER took good naps. It seems like all Christian wants to do is sleep and eat! Lately, he's been sleeping:

8-7:30 (waking up once to eat)
nap- 9:30-12 or 12:30,
nap-3-5:30

So, he's probably only awake 8 hours each day. Does that sound right?

At 6 months a baby should be about ready to transition from 3 naps to 2 and decrease total sleep a little bit. Average for 3-6 months is 15 total hours sleep including 3 naps and average for 6-9 months is 14.25 total hours, including 2 naps. Of course each child will vary based on their own needs...I'd say Christian is right about norm!

Also...don't forget that 6 months is a typical growth spurt where babies don't do much other than sleep and eat!

All I know is I wish Erin would sleep that long! I doubt she gets 15 hours sleep at nearly 5 months let alone 14.25. I might need to record it for a week.

I say good for you Kelly that you have a naturally good sleeper.

That's basically what Sarah did at that age although it was three somewhat shorter naps totaling about 4.5 hours plus 11-12 hours of night sleep, waking once or twice (usually once) to eat. I'd say Christian is right on track. :aok:

Cora is 6 months old and doesn't take good naps at all. She's up about 6:30-7 and goes to bed about 7-7:30. She only takes 1/2 naps at daycare (which could be a noisy daycare issue). She's not sleeping as much as she used to.

Thanks guys! I'm just not used to a good-sleeping baby, I guess! Watch, I brought it up and now he'll start waking up all night:lol:

Kelly, I say enjoy it while it lasts......Nikita changes his schedule on me all the time. If we are home, he'll take 2 good 1.5-2 hour naps during the day, but if we are out and about, which is more often than not (I take him on business appts with me, gym, errands), he doesn't want to miss a thing and will only sleep in the car or in my arms...
