No apology necessary!! I appreciate your honesty.

(You won't offend me because it's not a name that I chose.)

Okay, I'm feeling better. My cousin chose this name for her baby who is due in April, and none of my family (as in my mom, dad and sisters) likes it. Of course, we haven't said anything to her face, but I was starting to wonder if we were being a bit too hard on her. I tried looking it up on baby name websites, but it appears that she and her DH have just made it up!!

So... anyone out there like it?

I suppose it's for a boy?? I don't HATE it, but I would never pick it. It reminds me of a kid I went to school with... Daxton... and he was gross

I was just going to post the same thing as Nocona. I went to school with a DaxTon.
It's not awful, but I would never use it .

Brandi -- mine moved. Wouldn't it be funny if it was the same one?!

I went to school with a guy named Daxon... his parents owned a funeral home.... it's not a bad name, just to me, has bad associations... :dunno:

My question was whether it was a boy or a girl. Not that it makes a difference in my opinion.

As someone who doesn't have a problem with unusual or made-up names, I think Daxon is fine -- I personally don't love it, but it's fine. I have seen the spelling Jaxon used, so why not Daxon? I think those of us who choose unusual names realize there's probably someone close to us who hates the name, but I hope your relatives don't give your cousin grief. Look at it this way: at least it's unlikely to be mispronounced. :)

And he'll be the only one in his class

Although we really don't like the name, none of us would ever say anything to that effect to her, or to little Daxon once he's here.

I voted it's okay. I would not use it; I'm not crazy about it but I like it better than lots of other names. :) Maybe they liked Jaxon but think it is getting too popular so are putting their own spin on it. Like people are coming up with Davin instead of Gavin (or David). Dax is a cool nickname. :)

I voted Other because Hate was too strong a word. I just don't like it. It sounds too Star Trekky to me

Captain's Log: Star Date 2506. The evil Daxon began attacking the ship at dawn and taken half my crew hostage.

Daxon makes me think that they took Jackson, respelt it to the trendy Jaxon and the changed a letter for another random letter. While I don't mind Jackson as a name, I'm not a fan of Jaxon anyway. Daxon doesn't do anything to enhance it further.

hmmmmmm...

I like it but prefer Saxon. I have a name book which does contain Saxon, Paxon and Faxon but no Daxon.

I'm sorry, but Daxon sounds like someone with a speech impediment trying to say Jackson.
