i have one from REI that's pretty nice. if you lived closer i'd sell it to ya

don't buy one new, they're $$$, go to a children's resale shop...they are normally loaded with them and usually $40 or so.

We had one almost exactly like that, a Kelty Meadow. It was around $100. We loved it, but then I loaned it to a friend and she lost it.

I know lots of people who love them, but we started too late with Caleb. We tried him in one several times and he HATED it so we never ended up buying one. I'd advise a test drive in a store before making the purchase. :) (Although I guess you could always return it if it didn't work out.)

Damn Kim! And I would totally buy it from you too. How expensive is express mail anyway.

Jim apparently gave ours away to someonem who now lives in Hawaii. He supposed to buy another one today while up at Ft. Lewis at the Px.(Px = military base store= super cheap)
We have to have one by Saturday for Isabella. Since she has to go with us to the Farmer's Market and can't be wandering around. (Hot oil, hot BBQ = bad for babies)

I just called the local resale shops, they don't have any. This time of year she said they have waitlists for them.

If we're going to be spending $40-60 for a cheapo one at Target or BRU, we might as well spend a bit more and get a decent one at REI, right? :dunno:

I'm still searching Craigslist as I type and hoping someone responds to my desperate emails.

Jen - I have a Kelty that I was going to sell at a rummage this summer. Very similar to the one Kim posted. I bought it off ebay, and IIRC, the shipping was cheap. If you are interested, I can dig it out and take pics and send it out to you this week.

Do you just want a backpack? I have the Kelty stroller/backpack combination and it is terrific. I don't believe it weighs much more than the regular Kelty backpack. What is great about it is that it converts into a stroller when you are tired of using it as a backpack. I paid around $150 for it.

My vote if it's going to get much use would be a better model, rather than the cheapest.

I think I have the Trek, though I'd have to check. Mine is in EUC. It looks like this, including the removeable sunshade and its got a removeable backpack on the back that is excellent for using as a diaper bag

We have the same one as Melissa and it's been great for us! Definitely spend the cash and get one that will be comfortable and fit you well.

We have this one and a regular Kelty as well. It's definitely worth paying more for a good one IMO, they are more adjustable so they are more comfortable. They also hold their value pretty well so when you are done with them you can get a good chunk of your money back.

I think that's the exact one we have. I can't tell for sure, though.

I've had 2... one I just sold on Craigslist for pretty cheap... it was a Vaude Swing, I think it's German? I bought it off someone on another board. It was a VERY good pack, but more pack than we needed... so I got a Deuter Kangakid.... LOVE it! It is frameless and also has pockets, etc. for use as a regular backpack... we use it all the time w/ Courtney:

We have a Kelty as well- not sure of the model, but a middle of the line one. It rocks! We don't use it as often as we should, but we do use the zip off mini backpack as our diaper bag, all the time now.

I would be the REI brand is of equal quality, and probably a little less expensive than the Kelty? I'd sell you ours, but I don't think we're *quite* ready to give it up yet.
