I consider myself an "Island Girl" even though I didn't get there until I was 9½. I grew up and lived for 27 years on Vancouver Island (Nanaimo and Victoria) except for a brief stay in Ottawa for University and Burnaby (Vancouver) for work. HATED Vancouver. HATED it! A lot!

Now I am in Windsor Ontario. It's not too bad, but I miss the island and all my friends/family. I don't miss the rain, oddly enough. :) I have lots of distant relatives about 2-3 hours from here as I was born in Brantford (home of Wayne Gretzky), so I'll have to get there sometime. :)

Its funny - when I was in high school I couldn't WAIT to get out of Spokane. Now that I am older and have a child, I can't wait to go back home.

We don't like it here because there is a VERY high crime rate, the schools suck, and I don't think we were cut out for the desert life. I miss the snow. We moved here because DH got his job at the mine.

I consider Sudbury the Ugliest City in Canada. (My Gramma lived in Nairn Centre, just west of there). I did University in Ottawa! LOVED it. Reminds me of Victoria. I did 4 months in Kingston before I moved to Windsor. I was at the Cancer Centre every week for 3 months of that. Nice city, but I'm glad I'm not there anymore. :lol:

Now due to my ill health we're moving back to the states and moving to the desert of Arizona. Phoenix or one of the suburbs of Phx within the next 1-3 years..

I was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland and came to Israel at the age of 16 to a boarding school (family stayed in Switzerland). The boarding school is located in a town called Kfar Sabba. I lived there until I finished high school (4 years). On weekends i used to go to my foster family in a settlement nearby. Then I did one year of National Service at the age 19-20 in Jerusalem (in an institute for blind and handicapped children). In 1993 I married DH. First year we lived in a settlement called Elkana, about an hour from Kfar Sabba. Then we moved to Bne Brak and lived there for 8 and something years. Then we moved to Petah Tikva, the town we now. Except for that one year in Jerusalem, I basically always lived in the center area of Israel.
I guess the names of the towns I mentioned sound as familiar to you all as do most of the town names I read in this thread...:lol2:

Was born in a North Texas town, moved out to West Texas where I lived for 18 years, then moved to South Texas to go to school and now I'm back in North Texas in a town called Garland. It's a suburb of Dallas.

Don't think I could ever leave this wonderful place!

I am a 3rd generation Atlanta native. My dad's father, my moms parents(one in south GA one in North GA), and both my mom and dad were born here.
I was born in Dekalb county, we lived in Norcross for most of my life. I then went to college in Rome, GA and my dh is from Summerville, GA near Rome. When dh and I got married, we moved to Suwanee and now we live in Buford where my parents now live.

I have family in Freemont, CA (pretty cool to see a lot of people have lived there!) and also in Lakeland and Orlando, FL. :)

Right now I live in Carpentersville, Illinois. We'll probably be moving sometime next year to a house (we have a townhome right now). I grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois, about 15 minutes from downtown Chicago. I loved living there, but the prices for houses is ridiculous! :eek: My parents are going to make a fortune when they move since their mortgage is paid off.

I grew up in Los Altos, California which is in the bay area. I moved to Denver 11 years ago.

My mom lives here in Colorado very near by, and the rest of my family is in California.

I was born in Kalamazoo, MI and lived in Parchment, MI until the age of 8. Then we moved to Bloomington, MN (suburb of Minneapolis) and that's where I lived until my twenties. I have lived in a few other suburbs around the Twin Cities (Hopkins, Eden Prairie, Inver Grove Heights, St. Louis Park, Eagan) and I went to colleges in the Twin Cities as well. I also lived for a short time in Winona, MN and Osaka, Japan. My DH and I are now living back in Eagan. He grew up in Duluth, MN.

Raised: Bethel, Connecticut (until age 13) and then Salem, New York (very small farm town on the foothills of the Adirondack and Green Mountains)

College: Rochester, New York

Now: We currently live in Brockport, New York - a small college town between Rochester and Buffalo. My husband grew up in Morelia, Mexico and than Buffalo, New York.

I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and lived there until I was 31. My husband's job transferred him to their Boston office, so we live in Southern NH and he commutes into the city every day. I definitely like this part of the country much more than Baltimore! :lol:

Caurie, I lived in Tarrytown until I was six, I was born at Port Jefferson. We lived in Stoneybrook for a short period and then moved back to Tarrytown. I have some memories of being able to walk down the street from our house to the Hudson Bay.

Then we moved to Indiana and basically lived there my entire life and now DH and I live in Michigan.

We live in Victorville, CA - 90 miles east of LA, on the way to Las Vegas. I was born in Boston, MA and raised in a suburb (Woburn) 12 miles of north of Boston.
I moved to Denver, CO to attend college. We were married there and lived in the Denver Metro area until 1997 when we moved to Victorville.

My husband was born in Colorado Springs, CO and was raisedin Denver and Sterling, CO. He lived in New Jersey for 4 years after college.
