View Full Version : Journal Changes

The change is complete... for now. Journals have been moved from their descriptive categories to categories based on username.
Weight Loss Journals are in the Weight Loss forum, Photo Journals are in the Photography forum and the Group Journals have been moved to the area where they seemed most appropriate.
The Photo Journals forum will soon be renamed "The Photo Album" so that it can comprise photo threads of our kids. But I didn't want to confuse everyone with a move and a name change all at once.
The Non-Journal search is working again. We had a few minutes there where it didn't, and I think almost everyone noticed it immediately. Sorry about that.
Any questions, comments? I'd love to hear them.
Another thing I'd love to hear: Any ideas of what we can call those two new forums that would be a little more creative/interesting than A-L and M-Z? Of course, we still need it to be clear where to put your journal...

The only thing I notice is now when you go to the opening page it lists journals along the right column. Could be what your talking about though so I am not sure.

Thanks, got that fixed.

I know it was discussed, but only in use do I find that if I'm in "A-M" then it's easier to see the other journals that are in that section. It means I'll pop in on random people in N-Z less often.
Is there a hard limit that would keep all journals from being in the same folder? (meaning A-Z?)
Plus now I have to think of someone's username not just their regular name - ie to look for Anne I need to look under N-Z.

Don't you subscribe to journals to make it easier?

I think its alot easier to search by user name than "real" name, personally :dunno: I like the new setup :)

I subscribe to some but use the email update feature. So when I'm logged in I don't go from the "Subscribed Threads" page but I went directly to Mommy and Daddy Journals. So I'd leave someone's journal and be back at the Mommy and Daddy Journal main page, and see another journal and randomly jump in.
So I guess I don't use "subscribe" as others do.

I see what your saying. I just go to quick links at the top of the page and drop down to subscribed threads and it brings them all up rather then responding to emails.

I like the change; it has made the main forums page look so much more tidy. I'm all about tidy.
I use "subscribed threads" or just use the "new posts" search, so I won't be affected much by the change.
I'm not feeling creative enough this morning to figure out catchy names for the subforums, though. We need some marketing people in here.

The two forums could easily be combined into one larger group. It would probably be about 150 journals. Is that too much to search through?

I think 150 is totally manageable  Maybe active/inactive forums instead?
ETA - NM - I forgot about the archive :blush1: - Ooops! :)

I wouldn't think so, Sheila. It doesn't seem like there were many other types of journals outside of the mommy and daddy journals, so combining them into one group probably isn't a lot different than how the original mommy and daddy journal forum was. :dunno:
