Don't know if this is the right place to post this, but how do you keep a 2 year from playing in a plant. We have a huge plant in our family room and every time I turn my back, go into another room, whatever, Isabelle gets in there and plays in the dirt. She ends up getting it all over the floor and her hands and clothes. She just started doing this for whatever reason and besides from moving it, what else can I do to keep her out of it?? Any suggestions would be a blessing...

Saran Wrap. Shel did it with both of her youngest kids when they were fascinated with a plant to the point of eating the dirt out of same. Wrap the saran wrap over the top of the pot, with just enough room for the stem to get out.

Thanks!! I totally need that for Graham! He's eaten more dirt! Lucky for me I have a massive 10,000 foot roll of the stuff!

I know you said aside from moving it but personally I would just move the plants where the she can't reach our outside if possible. Of course, if you do that, she'll find something else to get into anyway. I try to redirect and distract but if that doesn't work after awhile it's just easier to get rid of the problem (not the kid  )
Maybe if you let her have at it for a bit and the newness wears off she will leave it alone. Possibly buy her a small bit of sand to play with outside sometime. Of my daughter used to LOVE to play in water. Just a few cups and bowls on the floor or on a small table. She would sit for hours and pour the water back and forth. :dunno:

I tried the saran wrap yesterday. So far, so good. At least, he hasn't been able to pull it off yet. For me this is strange because Mason did put stuff in his mouth but not to the extent Graham does! I have huge established plants so I don't want to get rid of them. Two of them can't go outside because I tried it before and almost killed them!

Well, aparently the saran wrap did not work while I was at work last night. She still got in the plant. We also cannot put this plant outside, as it does not like cold weather...and yes, it has been 45 (going into the 30's overnight) here is Chicagoland!!!
