For the food I use the long a pronunciation (aaaaaa-pricot) but for the color I say ah-pricot. Don't know why.

Ape.

Alyssa, you are full of important questions today, aren't you?

Not trying to hijack this thread, but did ya know that people in England pronounce "zebra" like zeb-ra, rather than zee-bra? At least that's what my husband said because people at worked laughed at him when he talked about the zoo.

App-ricot.

And BTW - who loves apricots??
I LOVE them and can't wait for their season to start!!! Pity the season is soooo short.

Don't ask where the aluminum foil is when you go to the grocery store either Cami.

Ape-ricot most of the time. Sometimes an a-pricot slips in, though.

Aside: I love dried apricots, but don't really care for fresh ones. Weird texture and little flavor with the fresh.

That's cause zeb-ra is the correct pronunciation  We (and the British) say zed not zee so wouldn't start a word with a zee sound.

Ape-ricot.

I hate apricots :dead: I can eat a dried one if forced but fresh ones make me want to puke.

Why? What's it called?
I just listened to Shopaholic & Sister on tape and it was so neat listening to the different pronounciations of the same words.

Alu-mini-um over there, Karri.

Clare

It's called aluminium foil, but we pronounce it al-ooo-min-ee-um.

TtownAnne

So then why don't you say zedra, if zed is the correct sound? :lol2:

That's cause zeb-ra is the correct pronunciation  We (and the British) say zed not zee so wouldn't start a word with a zee sound.
