What words does your little one pronounce incorrectly? Any sayings they misunderstand in that cute way only little ones can? I know we had a thread before on "funny sayings" before but oh well... :shuffle:

:)

Caleb pronounces poop as pyoop. Not pie-ooop. Peeoop but the "e" is fast.

Ew! I just went pyoop! :lol:

He also puts chains of letters together and every time he says that it spells, "cornheads" in honor of The Coneheads movie which he saw once for about one minute. It seems to have made a lasting impression. Oh and he also calls popcorn "cornpops". He just likes saying variations of "cornhead" I guess!

Jackson pronounces popcorn as "pahcorn." :lol:

I know there are more, but I can't remember them. I'll have to come back. :lol:

The day after this one is called "tamahmow"

Caroline is actually getting out of these types of pronunciations, and it makes me sad. Such an obvious sign of being a big kid, kwim? Once she learns how to say tomorrow, I'm going to cry!

Lynn
May 9th, 2006, 03:21 PM
Aaron says "Hots-pital" instead of hospital. I think it's so cute that I will sometimes purposely drive past the hospital just to ask him what it is :lol:

And not so much a word as it is a phrase, but whenever I say, "Oh my goodness" he'll answer a few minutes later with "Oh my grocery store!" :scratch:

Ben doesn't put his toys into a container - he puts it into a "ben-tainer". That's the only one I can think of right now, although I know there's more. A friend's husband worked on yellow with him this weekend - I'm glad it didn't take as I rather like lellow.

Brookelyn recently went to our towns annual 'Poppy Festival' with my aunt and uncle who were in town. She constantly talks now about the 'Poppy vegta-ta-bol' lol!
She also says burgercheese, instaed of cheeseburger. We can't figure out why because no matter how many times you say cheeseburger, she still says burgercheese.
That's all of can think of for now:)

gooey gooey gosh ~ as an expression meaning something like 'oh my gosh'

Hamburger=Hah buh buh (same as peanut butter)
Snowman=Zadow (said in a growly voice-don't have a clue!)

Clock=cock (so I don't often ask anything about a clock. At Disney there was a big clock and of course he was yelling, "look at that BIG cock!!" I tried to distract him quickly)

Kalyssa says pee-nan-oh for piano.

Keira doesn't say much yet, she mostly hums everything. She will say "hee key key" for here kitty kitty.

Stacey

Maia used to call Cinderella "Cinderocka." I was sad when she stopped that. Umbrellas used to be "aye-rockas." :lol:

She still says "bum-cuter" for computer, but she's outgrowing it. She actually used to start many words with "bum."

bum-gina (vagina)
bum-tility room (utility room)
bum-nastics (gymnastics)

Maia's now pronouncing most things correctly. I haven't noticed that Cole has any funny words like this.

Shanna

TtownAnne

A few months ago we were talking about grilled cheese (kalyssa wanted one) and kaden kept saying "buhcheese!" We finally realized he thought we were saying GIRL cheese and he wanted a BOY cheese. He still calls it boy cheese.

Oh boy...where do I start....

Norah & Elliott:
water=ma
blanket=dee

Elliott:

He used to call airplane= buta, but he's finally starting to say 'plane!"

The only 2 words that I can think of that Aidan still can't say correctly are:
thank you= kaythe you
vagina= bagina

Stacy
May 11th, 2006, 09:19 AM
Dylan's thank you comes out more like no fank you.

When he's mad and you ask him to do something he'll say no fank you but it really sounds more like, No. F** you. :lol:

Alyssa doesn't have many anymore. She really has outgrown most of them

She does still call
Diaper Bag - Diaker bag
Her V's - just sometimes are still B's and I like it!
Computer - used to be puter
Piano - is still sometimes panyo

That is about it..IT makes me sad as I love that little child dialect. I want more kids in the worst way :lol:

Victoria doesn't have many words that she still has a problem with - the only one coming to mind is hospital, she says hostipal. I remember the one she always got wrong that I got a kick out of was how she said Giggles for the Wiggles.

Alex is still have some issues with S and F at the beginning of words. Superman comes out Duperman. He also has some difficulty with combinations like th, sh, and ch. Cheese comes out as geeze and kechup is checkup.

Now, Lauren has a ton of them but I'm drawing a blank but here are the ones I remember:

gook is milk
kicken is chicken
mare is banana
amamance is ambulance
goose is juice
wah is water
Iggie Town Ear-Os is Higglytown Heroes

Mason doesn't have many anymore. :blue:

He still says Nank you for thank you.

Helmet sounds like Helment but if you ask him a few times he'll say I SAID HELMET! :mad:

The best one by far is construction or instructions. I have it on video. (www.dropshots.com/day.php?userid=10407&cdate=20060325&ctime=172237) It is sort of like swa-swuck-shun.

Jen

Kaden does say "hee-nah-nin" for Keira Lynn, it's just normal to me now.
We even call her that sometime :lol:

Used to say:
Screwdriver- roo by buh
Plane- Nee (again, no idea?)
Milk- Meal-t
Chocolate-hoggit (still says this)
Kaden Zane- Dayden dane

He has a language all his own!

Kalyssa called an indian burn and "army burn".

Sarah doesn't talk yet, but I remember my little brother had some good ones (he's 19 now, so he obviously doesn't do these anymore)

mokercycle = motorcycle
gock = clock

I swear he had more, but I can't remember them anymore!!!

Oh, and Brooke's post about calling a penis a "peanut" reminds me of a funny story with my other little brother. We saw ET in the theater when it first came out. There's a line in the movie where Elliott says "It was nothing like that, penis breath!" and for months my other little brother called everyone "peanut breath." :lol2:

I forgot a really good one. Mason has known this kid Matteo since he was 2. Ever since he has known him (and to this day!) he calls him: Matato. :lol2: Even I call him Matato. :lol: His Mom is a teacher at the school and she thinks it's hysterical.

He also calls Peter Parker (from Spiderman) Peever Parker.

I was thinking about this thread yesterday. Alyssa really talks like a little adult and it is so fun to have some girl time with her. Here are two things she says...

"Mommy, I don't think Tylor is going to let you use the computer afterall"
-where does she learn to use that in the correct context :lol:

"Actually it is going to rain today"
-She says the word "actually" at least once an hour. Kara and I are pretty sure that she got that from their preschool teacher as her son Austin will also say it. Alyssa loves this word :lol:

We were playing with my 2-year-old niece recently and trying to get her to say stuff and I asked her to say David Hasselhoff (like they asked Lisa to do in The Simpsons in the episode where they talk about her first word) and she said "David Hefflehoff"

I'll see her Saturday and we'll see if we can get anything else interesting out of her.

Right now Sarah calls me "mamamamamamamamama...." :lol:

Napkin = "yakin"
Bridget = "Dribbet" (he'll say "I can say Bridget, but I call her Dribbet")
Remote = "merote"
Thank you = "kay koo" (he doesn't say this anymore)
Whenever Carter wants you to stop something, like tickling him, he says "exit!" I have no clue where he got this.

I love you = "I yuh yoo"

September 19th, 2006, 08:24 PM
And not so much a word as it is a phrase, but whenever I say, "Oh my goodness" he'll answer a few minutes later with "Oh my grocery store!" :scratch:

This reminds me...

Ryan and Janelle were pre-tend fising at a friend's barbecue this summer and whenever she missed while casting DH would say "Miss-fire", she decided he was saying "missed-on-fire" but since she doesn't like fire she decided to say "missed-on-dandelion"...and she still says it whenever she doesn't get something just right.

Clock=cock (so I don't often ask anything about a clock. At Disney there was a big clock and of course he was yelling, "look at that BIG cock!!" I tried to distract him quickly)

Kincaid used to say "cunt" for colour, don't ask me why, but he'd scream it in restaraunts when he wanted crayons.

My little (ok, he's 25, 6'3" and near 400lbs...so not so little) brother used to say "raped" for grapes, and he would frequently scream in the produce section "I want raped, I want raped"...

Lynn
September 19th, 2006, 08:56 PM
Aaron has a couple of cute ones that I hate to see go:
Lellow = Yellow
Zizzors = Scissors
Sir-stee = Thirsty

If I ask him to say each of the words slowly he can say them correctly. I think he knows I secretly think they're cute. :hb:
