Ok, I am very new to this entire thing.

We have been trying to get pregnant for about a year and a half. This will be my first cycle of clomid. I just don't know what happens after clomid.

I know it's too soon to know if I will respond well to the clomid, but I don't think ovulation is my problem, I don't have regular periods, but if I do have a period, I have ovulated exactly 14 days before.

We are only 24, but my husband and I are more than ready for kids, we have been married for almost 3 years and have been together since we were 14.

I am getting ready to move back to North Texas, and I need to find a good OBGYN, so I can continue with the treatment.

So, I would love to get some information on what you guys think about my situation, because I don't know what to expect.

Also, my doc said to start the clomid on Day 3, 4 or 5, anyone have any ideas about which would be best?

Thanks, I am so happy I found this site to get some information from people who actually have gone through all this.:supergrin

Hi there! Sorry you are suffering through the pain of IF...many of us around here share in your pain.

As for your treatment and where to go if Clomid doesn't work, you are at the very beginning of the spectrum for IF treatment - there is a long ways to go in theprogression of treatment. If Clomid doesn't work some REs will go to Femara, some will do Clomid and monitoring. There's Clomid with a trigger, injectables, injectables with monitoring, injectables with a trigger, injectables with IUI...there are MANY options if Clomid doesn't prove successful for you.

I do have some info on starting Clomid early vs. later. If no one else knows before I get to it, I will post about it tomorrow or Wednesday.

Hopefully your next step is pregnancy ;) My 3 y/o daughter was concieved (almost exactly 4 years ago) on clomid (2nd cycle). I took it CD 3-7. According to my ObGyn there's not much of a difference between starting on day 3, 4 or 5 :dunno:

We've been trying to concieve #2 since October 2003 and so far nada :( We started out just OTL then started charting and then I did 4 rounds of clomid with my ObGyn before she sent me to an RE. I think I did 1 (or maybe 2, I can't even remember anymore) more round of clomid and then moved on to tamoxifin, did 2 rounds of that and ran out of money. I think the next step would be injectible drugs with or w/o IUI (depending on your diagnosis). I have PCOS and didn't have trouble getting PG on clomid before so unless there's a new problem with DH's swimmers, we'll skip the IUI to save some cash. Right now I'm holding off on treatment to try to lose weight and get my PCOS (and it's related symptoms) under control before trying tamoxifin (because it's cheaper for me than the clomid) again.

I'm not sure what your next step would be as I don't know your IF diagnosis. I'm an open book and so are quite a few other ladies here who are dealing (or have dealt) with infertility! Ask away! :)

Thank you for everyone's helpful information.

Hi Victoria!
Are you taking metformin with your clomid? What dosage are you on? I'm so happy to hear that you did get pregnant before!

I'm on day 10 now, I finished my clomid for this month on day 7, I took it Day 3-7. I'm only taking 50mg since this is my first month. But the doctor said that if it didn't work this month they would move it up to 100mg next month. I have alot of hope that this is what we need to get pregnant.

This is kind of a weird question... my doctor said I would be most fertile 5 days after my clomid was finished. So, for me that would be on day 12... so, when is the best time to TTC? I was thinking like days 10-15, or until I ovulate, what do you guys think? Also, when you are on clomid, if it works correctly, are you supposed to ovulate on day 15?

Hi There

I was just reading your post.... I also did clomid....With IUI.... I started on day 5 and finished on day 10.... Then I went in for daily u/s and blood work.... They gave me a shot of HCG when I was getting close to "O"ing.... Then your to "O" in the next 2 days.... You can bd or go in for 2 IUI's.... They would end up being day 14 and 15 !!!! Then you should go in for another u/s to make sure that the folicals relesed.... I did clomid 4 times and then tryed injections... Sorry to say but always got a BFN.... I was saving for IVF when I got pregnant on my own.... I had my son 2 months early do to placenta blood clots.... He lived for 4 days.... He was born at 1lb 8oz.... but died of multi organ failure do to his premmature delivery.... I hope you have a better out come then me....

I used Clomid for both my pregnancies. With my first - it took 3 months of Clomid to conceive.... but I also lost 45lbs prior to starting the clomid. I took 100mg/CD 5-9.

With my 2nd - it took 9 months... I hadnt lost as much weight this time around, so I was also given Metformin to help with the Clomid. I took 1500mg of Metformin and 100mg Clomid/CD 2-9 this time around. I stayed on the metformin until 12 weeks gestation. We were getting ready to start Femara, when I found out I was pregnant.

I lost weight throught Weight Watchers. I am overweight to begin with - and read that weight loss will help the Clomids effectiveness, not to mention - make me feel healthier too :)

I now have 2 beautiful little girls - aged 4yrs old and 4 months old :)
Good luck!
