Is there a special song shared by you are your spouse/significant other? I searched old threads and found some similar to this, but nothing exactly like it, so hope I'm not repeating something...

Even better if you can list the song/lyrics and maybe a link to a clip.

Our song would be The Girl from Ipanema with Stan Getz and João and Astrud Gilberto singing. It's a long story, but this song has accompanied us through our most of our 13 year relationship. :)

Ours is "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman. It was the song we first dance to at our wedding.

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
And the sun does not appear,
I will be here.

If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand and have no fear,
‘Cause I will be here.

CHORUS
I will be here when you feel like being quiet;
When you need to speak your mind, I will listen.
And I will be here when the laughter turns to crying;
Through the winning, losing, and trying, we’ll be together,
‘Cause I will be here.

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
And the future is unclear,
I will be here.

As sure as seasons are made for change,
Our lifetimes are made for years,
So I will be here.

CHORUS
I will be here, so you can cry on my shoulder;
When the mirror tells us we’re older, I will hold you.
And I will be here to watch you grow in beauty,
And tell you all the things you are to me;
I will be here.

I will be true to the promise I have made,
To you and to the One who gave you to me.

As most everyone around here knows by now, our song is "Copacobana" by Barry Manilow. :) The first weekend James came to visit me, a local radio station was changing formats and they were playing the same 5-6 songs over and over again to keep you guessing as to which type of format they were going to choose. So when James got to my apartment he said "did Barry Manilow die and I missed it? I heard Copacobana about nine times since I crossed the Maryland line!" And over the course of the weekend it seemed like no matter when we got in the car it was on. So now we tell everyone that is our song and they say "you know it's about somebody getting shot and the lady getting stupid drunk, right?"

When DH and I first got together, I thought it would be cool to have a "song", but there really hasn't been one that's jumped out at us. :dunno: So....I guess we just don't have one! It's okay though.

We had Etta James' "At Last" as our song for our wedding....but it was more a joke on DH because he was in his 40's when we got married....and had never even lived with anyone before meeting me. I don't know if I'd call it "our" song though.

I love the stories of everyone else's songs though! :) Bridget - did you and Kai pretend you in Rio while you were sludging through that blizzard on the plains for your first date? Is that why it's your song?

Took me a while to find it...

When Van and I were first dating, we were both very active swing dancers. There is a song sung by Maxine Sullivan called "Massachusetts" that Van always said was my song b/c that's where I'm from. :) The song always reminds us of when we first met each other.

MASSACHUSETTS
(Andy Razaf / Luckey Roberts)

Gene Krupa & His Orch. (vocal: Anita O'Day) - 1942

Also recorded by: Dinah Shore; The Hi-Lo's;
Maxine Sullivan; Sally Stark; Andrews Sisters.

When the porter yells Massachusetts
I'll be there with bells, Massachusetts
Homesick as can be, Massachusetts
Only place for me, Massachusetts
Got a special date
With that New England State

How my heart will knock, Massachusetts
To see Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts
Want to roam around, Massachusetts
In Nantucket town, Massachusetts
I can hardly wait
I hope the train ain't late

You can't guess how much it means for me to be there
Childhood friends and childhood scenes for me to see there

`Neath blue skies above, Massachusetts
With the one I love, Massachusetts
Just like Jack and Jill, Massachusetts
We'll climb Bunker Hill, Massachusetts
Spread the news around
I'm Massachusetts bound

(Orchestral Interlude)

As you walk to Lexington, you think of glory
When those minute men were done, they left a story

Where they speak with ee's, Massachusetts
Boston if you pleese, Massachusetts
Where they can't say can't, Massachusetts
And where Aunt meets Aunt, Massachusetts
Spread the news around
I'm Massachusetts, Massachusetts bound

Ours is "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green. It started being our song early early in our relationship. We used it as the song for our first dance at our wedding.

The Best is Yet to Come -- Frank Sinatra

Not sure how to do a link but I'll give this a try: http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B000002NFI001020/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_020/102-2788072-9404116

Frank Sinatra - The Best Is Yet To Come Lyrics
(C. Coleman, C. Leigh)
[Recorded June 9, 1964, Los Angeles]

Out of the tree of life I just picked me a plum
You came along and everything's startin' to hum
Still, it's a real good bet, the best is yet to come

Best is yet to come and babe, won't that be fine?
You think you've seen the sun, but you ain't seen it shine

a-Wait till the warm-up's underway
Wait till our lips have met
And wait till you see that sunshine day
You ain't seen nothin' yet

The best is yet to come and babe, won't it be fine?
Best is yet to come, come the day you're mine

Come the day you're mine
I'm gonna teach you to fly
We've only tasted the wine
We're gonna drain the cup dry

Wait till your charms are right for these arms to surround
You think you've flown before, but baby, you ain't left theground

a-Wait till you're locked in my embrace
Wait till I draw you near
a-Wait till you see that sunshine place
Ain't nothin' like it here

The best is yet to come and babe, won't it be fine?
The best is yet to come, come the day you're mine

Come the day you're mine
And you're gonna be mine

We don't technically have a song that's ours. Our first dance from our wedding was also "At Last" by Etta James, so it has sort of become our song. I still get little goosebumps when I hear it. :) One of the reasons we picked it was because we were finally getting married after being together for almost 7 years.

Plus, it's just a nice song.

At Last

At last my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song

Ohh yeah yeah
At last the skies above are blue
My heart as wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you

I found a dream, that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known

Ohh yeah yeah…
You smile, you smile
And then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine at last
