Help... what do you do during the day with your toddler?

It is a rainy crappy day and I have exhausted my list

We have colored, played with play-doh, read books, watched wiggles, bult towers and taken a bath...

What do you do? Any ideas for me?

We're having the same issue today....

Fortunately we have playgroup on Tuesday mornings...it is usually from 9-10:30, but I stayed until 11:30 today. Then it was lunchtime and naptime...sadly we have been watching TV for a while now...

One thing we sometimes do on yucky days is bake something. Jackson loves helping (I measure and let him dump everything in the bowl) and then you have a treat to eat as well.

We usually bake too.. or cook something. Or I'll take my old catalouges and magazines and start cutting pictures out of them and give Brookelyn a big piece of paper and a glue stick. She loves glueing pictures onto the page.

We go for a walk. If it is just a slow rain Alyssa loves to go for a walk in the rain. I put her in some old clothes, old shoes, her rain coat and she has her own unbrella. She loves to count the worms and see the rain hit the trees. It gives for a good science lesson and also she usually ends up telling me that God was playing on the clouds to hard and jumped to hard and made it rain

We go to the mall with the play area in it so they can wear themselves out.

If we have nothing to do outside the house (we usually do), we do stuff others listed: play-doh, art-stuff, baking, playing "house", playing whatever....
and of course, the proverbial "let them play with each other" (someday, kate!)

Just saw this thread today, but I some suggestions that might help on the next rainy day... my DH showed my 18mo how to make a 'tent' by draping a blanket over chairs, sofa etc. and she loved sitting/hiding under it. It entertained her for quite a while. We also play hide-and-seek with her. I was surprised b/c I thought she was too young for these things. Some other things she really likes are to read books, blow bubbles, water play in kitchen sink, roll around/fall on pillows/bed, empty toy baskets when I take them down, be mommy's helper with chores.

Our girls love to make a tent out of blankets and the dining room chairs.

For baking, they love to decorate cookies, so I have a pack of Easter cut out cookies (Nestle makes them in the refrigerated cookie dough section) that they can dump sprinkles on. I actually forgot about them til the other day  and thankfully they are good for another couple weeks! We might do that later this week if it rains.

However, if it's been days and days of rain--we just had 11 days in a row!!!!--and I'm worn out and they are not happy with anything I suggest to do, then I let them pick a movie. Funnily enough, once I pop in a movie, especially any princess movie, then they are off and playing with dress up clothes, toys, dolls, etc.

Once they are old enough to play together it seems to help a lot!!

We do a lot of the things suggested. Right now we have a HUGE cardboard box sitting in the middle of our living room from our new BBQ/Grill. Jim cut a door and window out of it. So Isabella calls it her "baby house."

OMG!! The tent idea is brilliant, Amy!! :aok: Alex has a Ryan's Room tee-pee in his bedroom, but he'd totally dig on having a blanket tent in the family room! I'll try it out tomorrow......
