Saw this on the Today show this morning:

Imagine taking your baby's soiled diaper and simply flushing it down the toilet. No more smell. No more diaper. No more diaper pail. You’re putting waste right where it belongs, in the toilet. Not in a landfill. That’s exactly how gDiapers work.
gDiapers are a two-part system. The flushable inner refill fits into a pair of colorful ‘little g’ pants. When the flushable becomes soiled, simply flush it down the toilet. It's that easy
In the section on the show, they had two families use them. The consensus was that it is a great idea but the tearing them into strips to flush is a pain and messy.
What do you think about the idea?

Interesting. I like the idea of not clogging the landfills with disposable diapers, but I'm not sure I'd be keen on having to handle and rip open a poop-covered insert. :dead: The concept is good, though. Similar to cloth diapers where there's an outer cover that you reuse.

I've seen the packages at Whole Foods & wondered what the deal was with these dipes. Good to know!

interesting concept. If it works well, I might consider it when/if we have #2.

The commercial makes it look easy (duh). It is a good concept. I might take some extra time to rip the lining and flush if it meant never having to keep dirty diapers around in the trash.
But I can see the 'swish stick' becoming a favorite toy for older siblings, ew! And what do you do when you are at someone else's place? Pack the swish stick or plug up their toilet?
Might be worth a try though. The covers are cute too.

Sorry. It seems like way too much work for me! And ripping poopy inserts! Eww! :dead:

Well, considering that we CD, I'm not at all grossed out by the poop factor. Really, I think it's much less gross than human waste going untreated into our landfills, but I digress. :heee:
Love the idea. I've never seen them around here, but I would consider them.

if I'm going to do that much work, I'll go back to cloth.

I love the fact that the waste goes in the toilet where it belongs. I wish it was easier to flush it - like if you could just flush the whole thing. Great concept.

But with cloth, you still have dirty diapers around until you wash them right? I just love the idea of never having dirty/wet diapers in the house. I do throw the bad ones in the outdoor trash but flushing seems much easier and better for the environment. I think I'll try it and see how bad it really is to rip the thing up. It's worth $25 to try I think.
