I'm about to get a new email address and I have no idea what to choose. Am I the only one who labors over the decision?
I cannot decide what to pick. My husband suggested something about my kids but I want to be known as more than that. And what if we have another baby? He also said something about being his buddy but he wanted me to abbreviate and I hate abbreviations in emails. Like using grl instead of girl. And the next thing I realized is that I really have no hobbies. :(
My last email address has my maiden name... I'm ready for a change!
How did you decide? And was it a tough decision for you?

Well I have lots of email addresses... so... I typically don't use my name, first because it's too common and I end up with "ASmith1329209234809" or something like that... I tend to pick things that were somehow meaningful to me at the time - and I don't mind getting pretty random to avoid the dreaded string 'o numbers at the end.
One is based off of a European name for Santa (because I love Christmas and collect vintage Christmas crap) and one is a literary reference from Mark Twain, etc.
The only thing with "goofier" names is that I feel like a tool when I give them out to sign up for various email messages in stores, babeintobondage@hotmail.com (babeintobondage@hotmail.com) might seem like fun at the time, but I'd hate to announce it in the checkout line at Kohl's.
One thing that "kills" me are the email addresses I get on resumes people submit for jobs at my work. It's hard to take someone seriously when they at the top is something like this (and I'm not exaggerating by much),

Mine is my full name. Because I kept my maiden name as a second middle name, my name is NEVER taken. :aok:

It sounds like you understand my problem! I don't want to add numbers. I don't want to use my last name and I don't want a too "interesting" name to get handed out at FRG meetings with my husband's job!

Bridget! OMG!!!! LOL
Well, I used a college nickname for my yahoo account that I've had forever. For more "professional" situations, I have an adelphia account that is my first initial and last name like this j.smith@blah
You could do something off of armywife&mom... Or since my husband is in the 392nd Army band, I've used 392armywife for things. I agonize over stuff like that too, so you aren't alone!

 Bridget!
My email address is my first two Sons names joined together Aidley... it ended up being good because we started up a business called Aidley Co. It did become a slight problem because then I had Jacob.. but we realised the Co is in Jacob so it wasn't an issue.. BUT my email addy is still just plain Aidley.
I have never been overly creative either :dunno: glad I could help! NOT

Shoot, I shoul ask some of you how you got your username here!
I'm so used to seeing some of them that I forget that they're interesting, too!
Like, Girlo, Mrs Peacefrog, Nutmeg... Does Lyoshka translate?
Maybe that question should be a thread!!

Well, I chose Nutmeg because I'm from CT, which is the Nutmeg state. I just liked the way it sounded.

Ours is McMahonX3 at provider......
McMahon is our last name and the X is as in times (like 4x4=16) 3, cause there are 3 of us... My best friends used to be lastnameX2 when she was first married, so we copied it from her:)

Mine is boring. It's my first initial, middle initial, full last name @ provider.net. I purposely picked that just for the situations like Bridget mentioned. I can't imagine putting something like hotmommaCT@aol.com on a resume!

Mine is just basically momtokidsnames@provider. But I also have a spam one that has spam listed in it. That way I can keep them seperated.
