I was talking with one of my co-workers today and he mentioned a punishment that I found interesting and amusing. He said since his daughter wasn't keeping her room clean and didn't really care about her things, she got grounded from her room. He said that she'd been sleeping on the couch for a week.
I think that it is a funny punishment but also one that makes sense. From what I can tell so many kids have so much stuff in their room, sending them to their room isn't much of a punishment. Not allowing them to go to their room is a whole different story though.
Just thought I'd share...

Interesting idea. Wonder how old the kid is? I'd think this might be a good one for older kids, esp. if their computer/tv is in there. As for me, we got sent to our room and we had loads of stuff (although nothing like today) and for me I was generally upset about being in trouble, so where I was made no difference to me. BUT for some kids it is not that simple! I was always easy to punish.

I was the same as Bridget, but I never had all of the "stuff" in my room. My parents refused to allow us a TV, phone, or a computer in our room. But since I was an avid reader, that would entertain me.
Anyway, I think that is a very interesting punishment!

Hrm. . . not a bad idea. MUCH easier than taking all the toys out :lol2:

Interesting. Mason has toys and books in his room (he's 4) but for him if he's sent there, he won't do anything with them. He lays on the bed upset about having to be away from us. That's the punishment for him, the separation.
I wonder what she'll learn from it. If she wants to have fun "camping out" on the couch with access to tv etc. and other fun stuff then it's not much of a punishment. Unless she craves privacy; then it's more of a punishment because she's not getting any. And what happens if she doesn't keep that area neat/tidy.

This is Ellie, too. She thinks being shut in her room is a fate worse than death! She has more toys than Toys R Us in there, but being away from everyone else and not being able to get out are the punishments.
