Aden goes in June, but when I made his appt I asked and they said he would get maybe 3, but she wasn't sure?

Austin didn't...because he wasn't going to kindergarten...He will get them this fall at his 5 yr check. They get whatever is required for Kindergarten I think.

Alexia goes this Thurs for her 4 yr. (only 1 mo. late :blush1: ) and I thought last year the Dr. said that she wouldn't get any shots until she goes to Kindergarden? :dunno: I could be wrong though. I guess we'll see in a couple days!

For those that got shots at 4 yrs. , do you remember which ones they were?

Caroline got three shots (the first time they did it in the arms!), then said she won't get more until she is 11 years old.

OMG, this is sooo not good! It's been a long time since Alexia has gotten a shot (let alone 3!). I think she's going to be really scared...cuz she always sees how much her sister cries when she gets the shots. I really think this will scare her off! Hopefully she'll do better than I think she will, if she does get shots on Thurs. :crossfing:

Caroline was really scared too, Dawn, but I just held her hands (keeps her from flinching when they inject) and kept her talking so that she didn't even realize they were done until they were sticking the bandaids on her, and then she cried I think just because she felt like she was supposed to!

They do it at 4 or 5, and it's DTaP, MMR and IPV. (DT is the one that gets repeated at 11, with tetanus boosters every 10 years after that)

I took Micayla for her apt. a few weeks ago and they gave me the option of having her shots done then or next year. I chose next year, since she'll need a physical before she enters school. I was told it'd be 3 shots then.

Aidan did really, really well. He barely cried, but watched and you could see it in his face that he was trying to be brave and not cry. Hope that gives some of you hope for your upcoming appts!

Same here with Madelynn. But my kid is a weirdo and LOVES shots as long as she gets a bandaid, so I'm not worried about it.

We were given the choice to do it now or next year at 5. We actually decided to get them now, but then we decided to do a blood draw to run some tests instead. So, he'll get them next year. He FREAKED OUT when he got his blood drawn! I hated doing that!

Hopping in as I anticipate shots at Juila's 4-year as well (although it's a ways off yet).

Hey Eleanor, a while back I came across a few articles about using ethyl chloride spray to numb the ares for shots for little ones. Have you ever used it and do you know, does it work? Also, would a pediatrician have it on hand or would they look at me like I'd just grown a second head?

(BTW, I hope that's not too "professional" to ask you!)

I just got Aiden's done a week ago (a few weeks early but if I waited it for his actual birthday it would be a week before we travelled and I wouldn't have the time)

He got 2 shots. DTPa, MMR & Polio

Since he hasn't had a shot since he was 1yr old he told anyone that would listen to him that the dr hurt his leg

I hope we can wait until Caroline is 5... she had to get 2 flu shots this year b/c it was her first year getting it, and she now says she is never getting another shot again.... she will freak out.

Alexia went for her check up today, and no shots! Her dr. gives them next year when she's 5. Would you believe she was asking the Dr. that she wants her needles?! She really was disappointed that she didn't get any. Silly girl
