Air purifiers?

Does anyone have a central air purifier system for their house? What kind is it? How well does it work? Would you recommend it?

As some of you know, I have some major lung issues, and I've been thinking that an air purifier might really help me, but I have no idea where to begin to look at them!

I don't have a full-house central air purifier system, but I do have two of the Ionic Quadra Air thingies from the Sharper Image and they work GREAT! We have one in the living room and one in the bedroom and I haven't had but maybe 2 sinus infection in the 18 months or so we've had one. I definitely think they've helped.
