I sold something on ebay on Friday. I invoiced the buyer on Saturday. I have yet to receive payment. I sent her a polite message yesterday asking her if she'd sent payment since I haven't gotten anything through PayPal yet.

How long should I wait before filing a non-paying bidder complaint?

I think it's fair to wait a week and if you haven't heard from her notify her that the item will be going back up and you will file a non-paying complaint.

You can't put in a dispute until 7days post Auction anyway then they still have another 7 days AFTER that dispute has been lodged before you get a credit fee rebate.

I normally send off a reminder at the 4 day mark and if no payment after the 7th day then the option appears for you to be able to lodge a non payment dispute. I chose that option and everytime I have done that the customer has paid.

Good luck!

With this being a holiday weekend, I would definitely give her a couple more days. Do you have anything in your auction about a payment deadline? Ours include the statement "Payment must be made within 7 days or non-paying bidder will be filed."

That's what I was going to say. All my auctions have a deadline. If yours does you need to stick by your own guideline. If not, be sure to add it to all your auctions from here on.

I'd give her until 7 days. If you don't hear from her by day 8, I'd file a non-paying bidder complaint with ebay.

Well, as luck would have it, I got the money today. Sort of. She sent in a credit card payment even though my auction specifically says to ASK for an invoice if paying with a credit card. I refused the payment and invoiced her from my other PayPal account. She sent me an ebay message telling me that her computer was down.

So, assuming I get the payment to one account or the other in the correct form soon, what type of feedback should I leave? If her computer really was down, there isn't a whole lot she could have done. Should I leave neutral for slow payment or let it go and leave positive since I did get the payment and her computer being down more than likely wasn't her fault?

I think most people assume they have atleast 3 to 4 days to pay (that's what many set as their deadline.) While I try to pay the day it closes, I know alot of people just aren't that way. I wouldn't leave neutral or negative feedback as only 5 days have passed. eBay doesn't even consider that faulty as you can't file until 7 days has passed. If you don't feel good about the auction due to these circumstances, I wouldn't leave feedback at all.

Did you state in your auction how many days the buyer had to pay you? If not, then really, no, you can't give her nagative feedback. And she paid you...she paid you money in the account attached to your ebay account. Really, you can't give her negative feedback for that. Ebay says that you have to accept credit card payments, so really, your paypal account that is attached to your ebay account should be the one that takes credit cards.

Honestly? If you can't leave her positive feedback, don't leave any at all.

I don't think she deserves negative feedback. Technically she has paid you and it hasn't even been a week.

I don't think she deserves negetive feedback. I don't leave a negetive unless it's a last resort. And even then I usually leave a neutral with a scathing comment.

I'd just let it go and make sure to put a specific timeline in future auctions. Mine says payment expected within 3 days of auction close. We then also specify that if it's paid with check or money order we will wait up to 7 days to make sure the check has cleared.

Actually, I received payment ten days after the auction closed. I was going to file non-paying bidder today when I received payment. I wouldn't leave her negative feedback since she paid me, but I was debating between positive and neutral. We'll see how quickly she gets back to me paying the correct way because I'm not upgrading my other account.

Ah, the initial posting was confusing...I didn't realize it was 10 days. ouch!
