Nicholas has the flu. The doctor gave me an Rx for tamiflu for him. She also, at the last minute since its Friday, gave me one for Josiah and told me that if he starts exhibiting symptoms to get the 2nd Rx filled for him. I asked if the tamiflu would have any preventive properties for Josiah and she sort of scratched her head and said she didn't think it would do anything.

I've since spoken with a friend who said when SHE got the flu, her doctor prescribed tamiflu for her toddler and her husband. They both took it and neither got the flu.

Have you had a similar experience? Thanks.

No, but if you can fill that Tamiflu script and hold onto it, I would. It's hard to get and would be worth it's weight in gold if bird flu mutates into a person-to-person transmittable form.

Just an update for future reference on tamiflu. The pharmacist says its only good for 10 days after mixed/dispensed. So filling a script now for possible future use would be futile.

Ahhh... must be a liquid version for kids - didn't think about that! I think the adult version is tablets, and they're good for quite a bit longer... Bummer!

That could be. What I have been given for both kids is indeed liquid. (And it tastes like crud, I might add!)
