Josh will be 8 on Saturday.

He chose to invite 3 friends (only 2 can come) and we are going bowling and then to lunch at Chilis (he chose).

So..questions are as follows:

1..What kind of goodie do I give them? are they getting too old for goody bags?

2. Do I take cupcakes or cake with me to the restaurant...or just let them get dessert or milkshakes and have them sing to him?

(We're having a family dinner/cake later in the evening for immediate family.)

1. I don't think they are too old for goodie bags, what kid would turn that down!

2. My nephew is 8 and I know he would NOT sing happy birthday to someone, I don't know if they are all like that at that age, but maybe considering you are doing a cake later at home, I would skip the cake and just let them order what ever deserts they want. :dunno:

Maybe someone with an 8 yr old would know better. don't know if I was much help

He chose to invite 3 friends (only 2 can come) and we are going bowling and then to lunch at Chilis (he chose). Awesome idea!

So..questions are as follows:

1..What kind of goodie do I give them? are they getting too old for goody bags?
I don't think they are ever to old for goodie bags I think they just change. I know that cards are always a hit and then some gum. Maybe cool pencils or those squish baseball/sports ball things. Hacki sack I think they are called. Thos ear the things Tylor loves to get!

2. Do I take cupcakes or cake with me to the restaurant...or just let them get dessert or milkshakes and have them sing to him?
I would call Chilli's and see what their policy is as far as cake/cupcakes. They might even have one! Or ask Josh if milkshakes are a good fun birthday thing for them all to have. I am not sure that at 8 they will just pick something. I could be wrong :dunno: Then have the restaurant come do the happy birthday thing and have the kids join in. Not so embarassing!

(We're having a family dinner/cake later in the evening for immediate family.)
This will work for Josh. I am sure he still loves that part!

Have fun and enjoy! I can't believe he is going to be 8

They do have milkshakes there which is what I am thinking he will order..I think they have just plain ice cream too..Or we could always hit Dairy Queen on the way home!

I agree, they are never too old for goodie bags. My oldest child had them at their parties every year til 12 years old. :) You could always just put stuff in a bag for them to use at school like pencils, erasers, and candy and mini toys are always good for any age.

Oh okay, well if thats the case and the restuarant people definately do the singing thing (i know some places won't do that) then I would bring a small cake for them all to have there, so he can do the cake thing with his friends too)
