Christopher got invited to one of his preschool friend's Birthday Party. This is the first one for him so I have a couple of questions. It's one of the girls in his class so I was wondering what are the hot items for little girls right now? I am clueless about this since I only know what boys like. Also, how much do you typically spend for a classmates gift? The party is at Build a Bear at the mall. Should I stay with him throughout the party or come back and pick him up when it's over? Thanks for your help!

We spend less than $10 on presents for classmates. There are just too many parties to go to. And I think you're still expected to stay at the party with him, but if you're not sure, check with the parents.

I'd personally stay just because I'm paranoid about people watching my kids as well as I do.

With a girl this age, I'd think you'd be pretty safe with Disney princesses, Barbie, and My Little Pony. My Little Pony might be the safest if you think the girl's not a complete girly girl. If you really don't know her personality, you could get her craft stuff like Play-doh or construction paper and stickers and stuff.

I think $10-15 is good. I haven't been to many parties for classmates, so I don't have lots of personal experience to draw from for price.

We do about $20 for classmates parties. Although, someone went 'overboard' IMO at Alexia's party last week and got her a Gymboree dress, sunglasses and a Chicken Little remote control car!

I certainly would not want to leave. I would stay there. They end pretty quick anyway.

I totally agree w/ Stacey's ideas for gifts. Just include a gift receipt in case she gets doubles or isn't into it.

Aiden has gone to a few "daycare" friend parties and I spent $15-$20 on each one. I also agree with Stacey on the gift ideas.

Stacey's spot on with the gift ideas :aok: I spend up to $20 on classmates. I wouldn't leave a child that young at a party alone.

I was planning on staying at the party so I'm glad that you all think that would be OK. I really don't feel comfortable leaving him there. Thanks so much for your advice on the gift. I think I am more excited about this than Christopher. I can't believe my first baby got his first invite to a classmates party. It just seems like yesterday that he was a tiny infant like Nathan!

 I was the same when Aiden got his first invitation! It was so fun watching him interact with the kids that I don't normally see him interact with!

Enjoy :hug99:
