I am a teacher but I've been searching for a job for the past 9 months and I'm getting a little desperate here. I'm bored and I urgently need my own $$... of course DH gives me pocket money and buys me things but we all know what it feels like to have to ask for money :disbelief

Anyway... Yesterday we got the Betterware catalog in the mail and my mom started an enormous list of things she wanted, then my sister and then me. Then I noticed that in a sec we were ordering more than $150dlls in products. And that made me think  I can sell Betterware products which are not expensive and that way earn the extra $$ I need :)

So I told my mom not to place the order yet, went to Betterware's webpage and filled-in a form to become a part of their team... so far so good.

Now I' terrified!!!! :owow:

I've never sold anything in my entire life and I don't know what to do or how to start! I don't know if it's worthy and/or if it is a good bussiness, is it good enough to put my Teacher's diploma in the drawer?

Please please, any advice/tips are much appreciated here :help:

I'd say that if it interests you, go for it! You're not signing your life away here, just pursuing something interesting to help you bring in some extra cash. If you like it, then great, stick with it! And if you decide it's not your thing, then put the experience on your resume, and keep on hunting for that perfect teaching position

You've got a great personality and you obviously like the products, so I think you'll find that sales comes fairly easily to you. Erica put it very well, this can be a good way to earn some extra cash but if you don't love doing it, you can still pursue a teaching position and walk away whenever you like. Good luck!!

I am not a sales person but I have considered selling Pampered Chef htings to make some extra money, it is worth a try.

I took a teaching position that I knew in my heart was not a good decision and I was miserable! I am not even sure if I will ever return to teaching. Don't make the same mistake that I did. This will give you soem extra cash while you serch for the perfect school. Goodluck!

Thank you for the advice, it is much appreciated :)

I sent the request last Friday so I hope I have a quick answer (not very patient, here lol). DH's aunt is very successful in the real state bussiness and she's opening an office next month. She has offered me to work with her while I find a permanent job. She wouldn't pay me a salary but she'd teach me the fine arts of selling realstate and she says that if I sell anything she'd give me the comission

Tempting?

I think that either way you go, you're going to succeed. The most important thing about selling is finding what the buyer's needs are, and if you can fill them, do it. If you can't, though, don't give up - make a suggestion how to find what they do need. Odds are they'll remember that more than the item you didn't have, and come back to you in the future to see if you have something that works.

Real estate is much the same way. If a buyer wants a 3bd/2ba house, don't bother showing them a 1bd/1ba. Find what suits their needs and wants, and they'll come back to you when it's time to sell that home and buy a new one! My mom's realtor still sends Christmas cards more than 5 years later, so mom has her info available.

Good luck!
