My cousin has a little one, he is 21 months old, he will be 2 in June. He had multiple ear infections last year and got tubes put in August 05. Her concern is that he isn't saying very many actual words. He grunts alot and points. I think he understands....just doesn't talk. He is an only child...Everyone tells her it will come in his own time..But when should she worry? And is there anything she/his caregiver to do with him daily?

ETA: My cousin is a teacher so I was thinking today maybe she could mention it to their speech person at her school to get some ideas??

Aden didn't speak until he was about two. He did alot of pointing and grunting, too and I feel that he just wasn't ready to talk. Our pedi hooked us up w/Early Intervention after his two year check up and he did that for a year and it did wonders!! He is now a talking fool and we are sorry for the days that we wished he would talk

Ian didn't really talk much until he was about 2 either. I was starting to get concerned, but one day, he just started talking. It was like he finally figured that he could so he might as well!
