Teething? When Do I get a break?

Isaiah is 8 months old and has 8 teeth, 4 on top and 4 on bottom. For a week after his last tooth came in things were great, I got to sleep at night! Everyone told me that after they get there 8th tooth things calm down for a while till they get there 12 month mollars. Well yesterday he pooped 3 times, he normaly only poops every few days. Then last night he was up 2x and today he has a runny nose and is misrable. And worst of all he won't nurse with out BITEING me, he draws blood!! Is he getting molars already? Is this posable? When will things slow down so I can sleep at night?

He could be getting them. Every kid does it differently. Just think, you could be done VERY early. It didn't seem like we got many breaks and then Matthew went from mid-July until Christmas (between his canines and 2 year molars).

never :lol: Seriously, we have barely gotten a break in the past 2 years. Once Aidan started teething (8 mos), they decided to come in at a constant rate. We are now finishing up with the final two 2-year molars and I sure am looking forward to the break (i think there was a time when we had a 2 mo. break, but that is it :rolleyes: )

It is possible. Emily got 2 teeth at 5 months (bottom center), her top two came in at 8 months, and then we had a two month break. December was rough...she got 4 teeth in 4 weeks (10-11 months). However, it didn't hold a candle to early February...my poor punkin got all four molars in FOUR DAYS!!! :eek: She was 12 months and 1 week...the top two came through on Sunday and the bottom two poked through on Wednesday.

For us, runny noses, icky diapers, and just feeling cranky are all signs. According to my Dr Sears Baby Book, the molars *typically* come in at 12-18 months...that's just an average. Then the eyeteeth come in at 18-24 months, followed by the 2 year molars at 24-30 months. Based on that, I'm hoping to get a nice 6 month break or so...but not counting on it! :lol:

Naomi :bighug: sorry you aren't getting much sleep. I can't offer any advice I guess. Emily was just always fussy for a lot of reasons and I'm sure the teething added to it for her. :nod: I'm also hoping Isaiah gets most of his teeth in very quickly.

My son is 16 months old and we haven't gotten a break in teething yet. :(

My pediatrician says you don't get a break until the 2 year molars are in, then you have a four year break until the 6-year molars arrive! But by then the other ones are starting to come out.... :lol:

But by then the other ones are starting to come out.... :lol:but at 6 years old atleast you can talk to them about the pain and give them some Tylenol when you know that's what it is :) That's the one thing I was glad about with my 8 year old when he went through losing teeth and getting more in. That is nothing at all compared to a fussy toddler that can't tell you diddly squat. :lol:

I'm assuming that your baby has the two front teeth on top and the two canines, he could be getting his eye teeth. Katie is getting two teeth on one side of her mouth, I'm assuming its the canine and eye teeth.

There are a number of things that I do to help her out. If she's really fussy for no reason, I'll put a little orajel on her gums, if that stops the fussiness right away, I know its tooth pain. So I'll give her tylenol or motrin; if she has a runny nose I'll give her pediacare. Sometimes I'll give her hyland's teething tablets if nothing else works.
