This year we are thinking of doing a Halloween party for Joshua's B-day party since his b-day is 10/16. Does anyone have ideas for food, decorating (not too scary he will only be 3), ect... Again like Alex's B0day i have some time but I wanted to start thinking of ideas anyway.

Thanks again!

I have a book at home that has nothing but Halloween recipes and ideas in it. Here's a few that I can think of off the top of my head:

~Freeze some punch or juice inside a rubber glove, then put it in a punch bowl so it looks like a hand coming out of the punch. This works best if you have the punch and whatever you freeze be different colors - also rest the glove over a bowl while it freezes to give the hand some shape rather than lay it flat.

~For goodies, you came make the lollipop ghosts - take a lollipop wrap a piece of white cloth or paper around the candy part and tie with a string underneath then draw eyes and a mouth on it. (this also works as a party activity for the kids to do).

~You can carve Joshua's name into pumpkins - one pumpkin for each letter of his name and place that on a table. OR another pumpkin carving idea would be to carve a birthday themed image into it like a cake or balloons.

~Another treat idea is wicked witch hats. You take a sugar cone and frost the outside with green or purple icing and use fruit roll up snacks to make the band on the hat. Fill the ice cream cone with treats (M&Ms, fruit snacks, yogurt covered raisins) then using a little icing as "glue" stick a cookie over the opening of the cone to hold in the goodies then stand up. (I'll have to see if I can find the picture for you.)

ETA: Here's a link to the Witch Hat treats (http://www.cooksrecipes.com/holiday/candy-filled_witches'_hats_recipe.html)that recommends using chocolate ice cream cones instead of frosting them.

ETA: Here's another punch idea: Radioactive Refreshments
Make your food glow! Use non-toxic plastic glow sticks (available at any party supply store) to make your food look radioactive. Place some glow sticks in a clear glass bowl and pile orange, green or red gelatin squares on top. Drop some glow sticks in the punch bowl, too!

I also have a whole magazine on Halloween party ideas. I was going to do a Halloween party for Ali's birthday this year (10/26), but I have been given strict instructions that it will be a princess party.

If you would like to borrow the magazine, please just PM me your address and I would be happy to loan it to you. Here are some of the great ideas:

~Fill a plastic glove (think food service not the latex ones) with a piece of candy corn in each finger and then add popcorn to fill.

~Add gummy worms (or spiders, etc) to the punch.

~Frightening finger cookies - This link doesn't show a picture, but it's the same recipe as in my magazine - http://www.historychannel.com/exhibits/halloween/?page=recipes6

~For table decorations, paint terra cotta pots to look like candy corn and then fill them with real candy corn and shaped cookies on popsicle sticks. This looks super cute in the magazine.

Also, check out birthdaypartyideas.com - I get alot of great ideas from there and most of them are actually pretty easy to do. Family fun's website also has great party ideas and I'm sure they would have some fantastic suggestions for Halloween.

Wow thanks Dawn!!! These are great ideas.

Yeah, I get a few of them every now and then. Joshua's name in pumpkins came to me because I recently read a story about a guy who carved out "Will you marry me?" in pumpkins when he proposed to his girlfriend. :) There was like 20-something pumpkins because he carved ones for the letters of her name too.

Victoria's birthday is October 30th so I've been compiling the ideas for the day she wants to have a Halloween/Birthday party. I think I'm going to shoot for one this year but she's already requested Barbie.
