Did anyone else have pen pals when they were in school? I suppose it's a thing of the past now with the internet.
I had 2 that I can remember...
Seana was from England and Shermay was from the Philippines.

TONS! That was my favorite part of the school year. The first year I had some scary boy in Africa that wanted me to send him Walkmans and stuff. :errr: Then I had Sandrine in France, and Khaled in Egypt (he was an incredible artist, he did a chalk drawing of a picture I sent him that was just amazing). I still actually correspond with one girl, Jenny, in Sweden. She even came to visit me once!

I know I had several pen pals but I only really remember one, her name was Jill which is the only reason I remember her! She lived in the Midwest somewhere.

I had over 20 at once, and only 2 of them lived in the US. Most of them were in Europe, and some of those came from my classmates who didn't want to write to theirs anymore.
My favorite, however, was Suzanne, who lived in northern Germany. She was the one the exchange service 'assigned' me originally :) I'd love to find her now and keep up via email.

Hahahaha, Karri... my mom read one of my letters in which I was describing sitting next to "this cute boy on the schoolbus" and she made me re-write it without that paragraph! She didn't realize I'd sent similar narratives to 10 people the day before!

The only pen-pal I remember having was with a girl in a school in another part of town and at the end of the school year we all together for the day. I never had an international pen-pal though.

I started writing to my pen-pal in England when I was in the tenth grade. (Wow- 17 years ago!) He came to visit me when I was in college, and we kept in touch up until last year when he and I both moved. I have since lost his address. :( He keeps sending things to my old address, but he never puts a return address on them!

I had one - Mariana - who lived in Brazil. She went to my school for a year when her father was at the local university on sabatical, and we wrote to each other for a while after she went home.
And I had one other - Felix - who lived in Germany. We actually wrote for several years. I met him at a dance club in Torremolinos, Spain, and we danced together for most of the night. We met when I was a junior in high school, and wrote to each other until sometime in college, when we lost track of one another. He was a hottie! Plus, he liked practicing his English on me.

I had lots of Duran Duran freak pen pals from all over the county - I swear we wrote pages upon pages about Duran Duran. I dont think I could compose more than a few sentences about them now. (Glad to know how far I have come from age 13...lol!!!)
