Katie is getting her first professional (well, as professional as you can get at JCP...) pictures taken on Monday. We're going to JCPenney because my mom got us a picture club membership there...I like Picture People better, but I'm going to try to hold off joining there until we can use their props more.
I know I want to get a naked baby picture on their roses background and I think I also want a diaper picture on a white background...but what other pictures should I get?
She's ten weeks old...any suggestions of poses or what clothes she should wear? Should we do a family picture and if so, what should we wear?

At ten weeks, Meredith could hold her head up, so we did one where they put her up on her elbows and it was cute.
The Photographer will have a lot of ideas, so go with them, but don't let them run the show, you are the mom and they are photographing your child!
Have fun and I can't wait to see the pics :)

This is one we had taken when Riley was 12 weeks old.

And there is another pose that I just love. You lay them on their belly nad prop them up on their arms so all you see inthe picture is their head and arms and then you put a balket over the top of their head. Its hard to explain but I cant find a picture of it.
I found this picture on the internet.

(well, as professional as you can get at JCP...)
LOL Sarah... you may be pleasantly surprised. I got better pictures of Emily on our last trip to JCP than I did at Picture People back in December!
I would definitely dress her in something that's not too loudly patterned, so that the focus stays on her and her little face, and not on the clothes.
JC Penney has some nice soft-colored backgrounds, so you could even dress her in a solid color since those always photograph so nicely. Some examples off their website:
Their "Nursery" background:

If you decide to do a family picture, you might want to both dress in black and put Katie in white, or all dress in white tops with blue jeans or khakis (little baby khakis and jeans are so adorable!).

Some portraits of Emily, in case they give you any ideas!! :)
She was almost 2 months here (these are from Picture People) :

She was one-month old here, I had a cute little dress for her but of course she spit up right before the picture so I had to put her in a sleeper that I happened to have in my diaper bag  - this is from Walmart. Not great pictures (although of course I love them since she was so tiny) but you can see how the attention goes right to her little face and hands since she is in a solid colored outfit.

Jill,
Didn't you have Emily's pic taken at JCP on the rose blanket? If you did, can you post it? I am dying to see one!

These were Janelle's first pictures, done at Walmart at about 6 weeks old. The first outfit was a preemie outfit from walmart, something leftover from their easter line, the other outfit was my brother's coming home outfit, she looked so much like him that my mom wanted her picture in it.

I LOVE the expression on her face! It's adorable! (Love the dress too!)
And, the rose background, is that a blanket? That's really cool!
(Note to self...must get Teagan's pictures done SOON! )

Thanks, guys! They came out really well - that's what I meant when I said that JCP can be a pleasant surprise! :)
Anne... so glad Emily's tongue thing is so well-known...
Jenn - yup, it's 2 blankets of fake flowers - one that they sit on and one that they hang as a background. Soooo cute!!

They say not to wear overalls since it makes the babies look like they dont have a neck and we made the mistake of doing so. Very cute pictures of Emily
