Credit Card Question

During the crazy days of our youth, dh and I went a little wild with credit cards. To that end, we didn't have credit cards for a long,long time......until now. We each have one.

Well, I went to use dh's card today for a purchase at Penneys. First time the girl put it through it was declined. She did it again and it was approved.Then I tried to use it at Walmart. There was more than enough credit to cover the purchase. However, it was declined.Twice.

Is this a glitch in the computer system? I'm assuming it is...but, damn, it's embarrassing. Thoughts?

You might call the issuer just to make sure there isn't any type of 'hold' on the account. How long has it been since the card was used? It may be frozen or something because of a long period of inactivity. Did either store offer to call the company for you? A lot of times they won't unless it was a store issued card, but for a regular Visa or Mastercard they won't do that.

Also, verify that the magnetic strip on the back isn't damaged...sometimes that can render it unreadable (although it still shouldn't be declined). :dunno: that is a weird one!! Hopefully if you call the issuer they can clear it up!
