Anyone going through IF treatment been told anything about s/e or complications with obesity and pregnancy? I'm a little more than I was when I got PG with Gabrielle and I had a perfectly healthy pregnancy with her. My BP was up one time and that was do to job stress that week. I didn't have GD and despite being 4 weeks early she was healthy and has been ever since.

The reason I'm asking is because at my last RE visit, he told me that he wanted me to lose weight and get some other things leveled out (my thryoid, which is only slightly high, and my blood sugars which are also only slightly high) and then start on clomid and hope that in conjunction with the metformin I am on will get me to ovulate. He also said that while ideally he'd like to wait until spring (giving me a chance to lose more weight), if my levels are reacting fine to the dosages I am on now, he will start the clomid in December.

I go back on next Friday, and I am really anxious to hear what he has to say. Ideally, in my fantasy world, Dec/Jan/Feb would be ideal for me to get pregnant. I know it's stupid, after TTC for 2+ years to be concerned WHEN a child is born, but with Gabrielle's birthday 11 days after Christmas, that is a LOT of stress in that month, and I'd like to avoid that again if possible. I just don't want the child to get cheated as I'm already feeling like Gabrielle is. So if I don't get PG by February, then I WILL wait until late spring to try again.

I'm just wondering what other docs have said about it. I really want to make my own informed decision, but I'd love to hear personal opinions as well.

TIA :)

Andrea, my doc has informed me that best case scenario I *should* lose weight but that the weight doesn't make that much of a difference in my treatments. Obviously my treatments are VERY different from yours in that weight does not have a significant affect on IVF (some studies show a slight correlation but there is no definitive study to support it). However, when you are talking about ovulation vs. annovulation, weight plays a much bigger factor in that case and a 10% difference is significant!

It sounds to me like your RE is taking a very reasonable course of action. :aok:

I don't mean *that* aggressive  But yeah I know reasonable is GOOD. I just want the results I want.

I was told that losing weight helps. You respond better to the medications. I am anovulatory as well.
