Help!

I need some cute ideas for a SSC theme party. Strawberries aren't really in season so I am having trouble.

I am making strawberry margaritas but that is all I have so far

I have a few cute things for the favors but I could use a few more ideas for that also.

I need ideas for food or appetizers or both.

Did you soak the strawberries in sugar or use a glaze?

The only things I can think of off the top of my head are sweet foods/appetizers. Example: Strawberry jello, strawberry icecream or strawberry italian ices. Little Debbie also sells strawberry rolls..... you can cut them in half or in quarters and plate them up.

Ok. Lame. My ideas fall into the dessert catagory. I'll try to think of some more appetizer friendly ideas......

ETA: I know strawberries are out of season but if you didn't mind paying the higher price for them...I know something that will go over well. Strawberry kabobs. You take one of those long toothpick skewer thingies, be sure to cut off the pointy end (so little ones won't poke their eyeballs out  ), and just load your strawberries on there (cut them in halves or quarters for the really young ones), and they are easy to eat. If you wanted, you can add a blueberry in between every other one or something like that to break it up a bit or for color....
I did fruit kabobs several times and they were HUGE hits w/ kids and adults alike. :)

I usually use glaze but my aunt made the SSC and soaked the strawberries in sugar. It was so much better than mine.

How about making strawberries from walnuts?
Green funfoam for the leaf
paint walnut red with black spots
ribbon glued to leaf for hanging

or

pre-cut strawberries from fun foam
you could get some pre-cut shapes
add arms, legs, shoes, add some hatwear
some googlie eyes
voila

Amy, for some arts and crafts fun for the kids, how about this?.... They can make strawberry faces. You print it out on white paper...and then there's the hands, eyes, and mouth that they can glue on. They all just have to be precut (maybe the older kids can even cut it out themselves. ?? ) Then they can color it when done. :)

Fruit Faces

Watch your garden grow and grow as kids cut and paste to make silly mix and match fruit faces. Print on white paper for coloring or print on colored paper for a quick and easy craft. Great for classroom bulletin boards.

Amy, I just wanted to throw this in there.....thought it was neat:

I got it from here (Family fun magazine) http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/season/feature/famf59projects_games/famf59projects_games2.html

Strawberry Sparkles

There's no better time than now, during the height of picking season, to celebrate http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/Features/Activities/famf59projects_games_sberrys.gifthe great taste of fresh strawberries. It takes only a couple of minutes to turn a pint of them into a festive, mouthwatering treat for the whole family.

Wash the whole berries and pat them dry with a paper towel. Fill a shallow bowl with colored sugar (you can buy this at the grocery store or mix your own by stirring two drops of food coloring into 1/4 cup of sugar).

In a mixing bowl, blend four ounces of softened cream cheese, two teaspoons of confectioners sugar, four teaspoons of milk, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract with a fork until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if needed to achieve the desired consistency. Now, holding the berries by their stems, your kids can dip them into the cream cheese, roll them in the sugar, and enjoy
