Does anyone have a questionaire to ask when going to interview a daycare? I am going this afternoon.

As for what to look for, the key thing for us was how the caregivers interact with the children. Are they just standing around while the kids are playing, or are they on the floor playing with them? Do you seen any children that are left by themselves? Are any babies crying in their cribs?

Obviously the caregivers can't be with every child constantly, and somethimes it takes a few minutes before they can tend to a crying child. But you can get a pretty good sense of how involved the caregivers are. Trust your gut. We looked at a few and knew in less than a minute that we would never leave our kids there. And when we saw the one we chose, we knew right away this was the place for us.

Also, try to visit a few different ones so you have a basis for comparison. When we saw our first one, we weren't sure what to make of it since we had never seen one before. After visiting a few, we knew what we wanted to look for, so we actually went back to a couple and visited them again since we had a better sense of what to look at.
