Sarah's post in the Valentine's day forum got me out and looking at china patterns, and there are so many pretty patterns out there. We picked one, but I could really have chosen several others and been just as happy. So, show me yours and I'll show you mine. ;)

I went with an unconventional pattern. It's Butterfly Meadows by Lenox. I think it is technically supposed to be everyday China but at $25.00 for just a dinner plate there is no way we are using it for everyday  I have 8 full place settings along with several other pieces including the tea pitcher seen here. It's all in my China cabinet and I think we have used it twice in three years?

Anne - Rothschild was my first choice, but DH really preferred this pattern, so that's what we ended up getting.

Tam - I love your grandmother's china - it's so pretty! :)

We just have everyday dishes in porcelain. "Roulette" from Crate and Barrell. We decided not to register for China because we would never use it.

We didn't register for china, but seeing all these pretty patterns I wish we had :D Maybe I can pick something out now and ask for it for holidays :D

Chris ~ You can do what we're doing and get a set or two for Valentine's day, or your anniversary, or both! We're starting now, and we'll just collect it a little at a time until we have it all. And I found out when I went to get it that you can actually register for your anniversary, so your parents and ILs can know the pattern you want, even if they aren't nearby. And, you get the whole completion discount, too.

We didn't register for china, either. I'm already willed 2 sets, so I don't think I need anymore, plus, my husband is an only child, so I think we're covered. I did register for the "Fiesta" series dishes for my wedding. I *LOVE* them. I've got the dishes, canisters, stovetop set, serving sets, etc.... I love the mix-n-match of them.

I've got lots of colors and its kinda become like a collecting addiction :)

We didnt register for china, either. We just arent china kind of people. Plus I will get my g-ma's when she passes away (which is very similar to the Lenox Hannah Platinum posted above).
We have the PB Suppertime Dinnerware. I've had it since I was in college and love it. I love that it can go in the oven, too. And when I accidentally break a piece, its pretty cheap to replace.

Thanks, Karri! I love it too, and it is like yours, in that I can use it in the oven as well. I just thought the colors were so beautiful, and every day I love it more and more! And, I have never even broken one piece!

We did not register for china either. We would never use it. We just got Pfaltzgraff in the Heritage pattern:
http://www.microwavecookingforone.com/Pfaltzgraff/Images/Heritage/PfaltzgraffHeritage1.jpg (http://www.qksrv.net/click-671409-10297151?sid=Heritage20pcSet&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pfaltzgraff.com%2Fcgi-bin%2Fsgin0107.exe%3FCODIV%3D0107%26FNM%3D07%26T1%3D00203500)

Very plain and simple. So far, so good. Nothing's even been broken yet. Target is now selling several Pfaltzgraff patterns too :aok:

We did not register for China either. Instead we registered for Pfaltzgraff Cappuccino.

I really do like the idea of getting a setting for anniversary gifts though. I think I am going to talk to DH about it.

We didn't register for china, either. We just got basic white stuff from Crate and Barrel. They discontinued the set we chose (of course  ), so I can't even replace it if it breaks and I can't find a picture of it online.

Wow, there are a lot of us who didn't register for it! The funny thing is, Phil and I picked a pattern, but the casual china pattern we wanted was so expensive, we felt bad putting the fancy stuff on our registry, too, so we skipped it. (And we wound up returning our expensive casual stuff and getting Pfalzgraf Rio instead). Anyway, it's four years later, and when I went to buy the first settings, I really didn't like what we had picked out back then. So, I'm glad we ended up waiting!

I didn't register for china either. My everyday dishes are a Pfaltzgraff pattern that is discontinued, but here is a picture of the salad plate.

Just FYI - There is a website ( www.replacements.com (http://www.replacements.com) ) where you can get single pieces and some place-settings of thousands of patterns, even discontinued ones. I get a LOT of my Fiestaware from there b/c of the discontinued stuff.

A special occasion is a special occasion, no matter how small the diner! :) (note, we even gave her the good silverware too!)

I love it Anne! I think that's perfect. And very brave of you! That's how I feel about our stuff. I didn't want to register for China, but I did just so my moms would stop bugging me! And I figure if I own it then I'm gona use it! But I sure do hate cleaning it!

Nocona - we have the same every day dishes by Pfaltzgraff, I love them! And I'm hoping that it's a classic enough style that they never discontinue it.

Thanks Kris! We don't use it ALL the time (this picture is from Thanksgiving dinner), but for the big holidays - Christmas dinner, Thanksgiving, our anniversary, V-day if we're making a special dinner, etc. I just figured that Caroline has never been one to fling/throw/bang her dishes, so I didn't think anything bad could happen to it. :dunno:

Here's mine:

http://www.rudispottery.com/images/Lenox/Urban_Twilight/pattern.jpg

It's from Lenox and called Urban Twilight. It's looks black in this picture - but it actually has a deep blue rim.

Shortly after our wedding, I also inherited a set of china that belonged to my great grandmother. It's a huge set and actually coordinates with my own china. At last count I had enough pieces to serve 36 people!

Here is my good china. We haven't even used it yet because we don't have a complete set yet.
It is Seville by Wedgwood.

Our everyday dinnerware is by Pfaltzgraff but I can't find a picture of it anywhere.

Our pattern is Mistral by Wedgwood. We didn't want anything too formal, so I think this is considered casual china. They also discontinued it right about the time that we got married, so we used all of our wedding money and then some to complete the set. It's now in our hutch, but still has the stickers on! I just don't host any special dinners - one day, I'm sure.
